This photo was apparently shot by Life Magazine in 1961 at Fresno's Sunnyside Bowl-Bowling Alley (more Life images of Fresno here).
For some reason, it's quite the popular image over on reddit.com.

Last night while watching a documentary on Jonestown... a newspaper headline flashed that had "Fresno" in it. I think the story was from 1976.
