Tonight at Full Circle: Burlesque (uh, variety show)
Even though I can't make it (still out of the state), this looks like a lot of fun.
The Valley Burlesque Society is puttin' an old-school variety show featuring music, magic and some burlesque dancing. The last part is courtesy of a class being taught by local blogger/lounge singer Joy at California Arts Academy-Severence.
Here's a video of Joy and her ladies students learning some moves for the show:
The event takes place 8-11 p.m. at Full Circle Brewery. Admission is $12 (and $9, if you're all dressed up -- not sure what that means).

Well... I'm in town and I don't know about this one! I do see a waitress in there that I know from Veni's so maybe I'll roll just to rib her later.
This video is HILARIOUS!!! I love it, I have to give it to them, they're not too bad I guess.

This video is hilarious? Whats hilarious about women taking a risk and doing something out of character, painfully vulnerable and completely ballsy?
I think what they are doing takes guts....especially when you can tell most of these women are so out of their element.
I give them props because doing something that thrusts you in the spotlight therefore laying yourself out there to be ridiculed is not as easy as it looks!

How Fun!
I think people forget that women over the age of 30, 40, 50... often still want to be attracive, sexual creatures. It's not hilarious, it's awesome.
Ladies, dance with your inner Dita! You rule!

I've gotta say that it was an amazing night. The girls did an amazing job. They had the right mix of sexy and light hearted humor. Sarah Palin's naughty campaigning stole the show.
Also the variety show was a complete hoot. Suicide Lounge had a wonderful performance and really set the old timey vibe for the night. The magician (Bob I believe) had some really astounding rope tricks and fascinating illusions. And of course, the Apocalyse Medicine Show Hoe-Down, certainly hoed-down.
All in all, an excellent show and an amazingly fun evening.

Hey... belated thanks to everyone who came out to make Wicked Burlesque THE PLACE to be last Friday night. It was a great night, and a whole lot of fun.
However, it must be said I am not the only producer of that show, OR the only teacher of these lovely ladies. Amanda Allure is equally responsible for it all.
BTW... new classes starting on Monday. Beginning basics at 5:30pm, More Basics at 7:00pm - Cal Arts Academy - Severance building on Wishon in the Tower.
A note about the video... Imagine, for a moment, learning and rehearsing something you've never done before in your life, and then someone points a camera at you while you're practicing, and you don't have the benefit of hair/makeup/costuming to tap into your inner diva.
They were magnificent at the show, and we couldn't possibly have been more proud of them without exploding!
