arrow Everything you need to know to see Sammy Hagar

sammyguitar.jpg

We're officially one week away from Sammy Hagar's two-night stint at Cabo Wabo -- something we've been anticipating for nearly two years.

I spoke with Cabo Wabo head honcho Milt Barbis this afternoon to get an idea of what people trying to see Sammy should expect. First off, the shows are still free. Everything is first-come, first-serve basis and camping out overnight will not be allowed. For each show, 400 people will be admitted.

Here's a timeline that might be helpful:

- 8 a.m. - Lines can start forming
- 3 p.m. - The patio will open to people in line.
- 5 p.m. - Doors will open for the show
- 9:30 p.m. - Sammy takes the stage

In addition to the 400 people allowed inside, Barbis says more people will be able to listen (but not see) from the Cabo Wabo patio. And it should be loud enough that you can hear from other parts of the Granite Park area, if you're that desperate.

PREVIOUSLY ON THE BEEHIVE
- You can't ever be happy can you, Fresno?

Comments:

is sammy's all-star band lineup still the same as announced earlier? joe stariani on guitar, etc.?

djclintstorm:
That's the band he's been recording with, but I haven't heard anything to suggest that group of people are coming to Fresno. I haven't asked specifically on this, but I'm sure it would be Cabo Uno, the Cabo San Lucas house band which usually plays with Sammy.

The lines are going to be out of control. I wish they would charge $150 so the crowd will be more manageable (this will rule out a lot of folks). I'm not going to a free concert because the crow will be too big...I'd rather pay $150 and have fewer people around...

Sammy's band is "The Waboritas," which is Vic Johnson on guitar, Mona Gnader on bass and David "Bro" Lauser on drums. I believe this is who he will be playing with at the Fresno Wabo.

Should I be offended you think I'm a typical Fresnan? WTF??
I prefer to think of myself as a realist! Let's see what next week brings, I hope I'm wrong!

unfortunately, i'll be stuck at work and won't be able to attend. you have to get there bright and early in order to get in, but i'm sure those that weather the storm will have a great time.

i'll look forward to the videos taken by the BeeHive. hopefully Will is back in town so he can take some videos.

Yeah dave, I was there last Friday for a friend's birthday. I told her I couldn't believe she wanted to celebrate her birthday in the ghetto! Then when we got there and had dinner, it was ghetto too! And the place was packed. Don't those people know they are in the ghetto? I mean they should be all supporting River Park since they need our money. Not some ghetto place!

River Park needs money...? Travis, I'll charge you $149.99 and I'll stand in line for you starting the night before all the way up to the moment the doors truly open. I figure I can then take your money and go "UPTOWN" to the ever so posh neighborhoods of North Fresno and purchase an In n' Out burger or something.

River Park needs money...pssshhhh (LOL)

Apparently sarcasm is hard to discern in the written context.

It's okay, Michael, I get your sarcasm.

I guess if I loved Sammy Hagar, I would wait in line. But since i dont, i'm totally gonna bash it!
YOU GUYS NEED TO GET A LIFE!

I love Sammy, but there is no way I'm going to take a day off to wait outside all day. $150 for a ticket is way too much, but I would have paid around $50.

And thanks Joey. I'm glad someone gets me.

Anyone who wants me to take the day off work and go stand in line for them, let me know...cost is only $150

Even though I believe there should have been a fee to attend this show (to weed out the true freeloaders), it won't stop me from standing in line all day with the rest of the Red Rockers!! Sammy has it going on and I for one don't want to miss this unique opportunity to see him up close and personal. See you in line bright and early Tuesday!! :D

Tweed, you need to drop your price!

Michael, you're cool man... just givin' you a hard time.

I read it's only ONE night now. What happened?

Posted by: Debi at October 23, 2008 8:59 AM

*****

Yes, Debi, you're right.

Sammy posted something on his blog saying one-night only -- not sure what all this means, but I'm gonna work on figuring it all out this morning.

Just FYI Sammys band is the Wabos. Vic Johnson, David Lauser and Mona. Cabo Uno is the house band at the cantina in Mexico and they do not normally play with Sammy unless Sammy just pops in for a quick jam when hes in Cabo.
