Lebowski Fest: 'If you will it, Dude, it is no dream'
SAN FRANCISCO -- Had a great time over the weekend, as this video shows:
I have two hopes in life: That the cult following of "The Big Lebowski" grows to be half as big as "Rocky Horror," and that Fresno one day gets awarded the West Coast fest site.
Click below for lots of photos (featuring some great costumes):
In line to enter the bowling alley with a Little Lebowski Urban Achiever (and proud we are of her):

My buddy Dan, Jeff Dowd and me:

Here he is bowling (trivia: The Dude never actually bowls in the movie. Jeff Bridges' character does bowl in "The Contender"):

"The Dude is not in." Seriously, he was out ... for hours. It's sad, really, because he had a real shot in the costume contest:

Also in our lane were Moses and Sandy Koufax (doing their best Liam and The Jesus when "Hotel California" started playing):

Here is their competition in the costume contest:

Of course, no one can compete with young Walter and young Dude (the adult with them said they were allowed to say the F-word -- which is uttered countless times in the movie -- as much as they wanted till midnight). They were in character, too. I thanked The little Dude for letting me take their picture, and he said (with impeccable timing): "The Dude abides."

Walter getting interviewed for a documentary:

Another painting-in-the-nude Maude with a Dick Cheney Big Lebwoski and a Dude:

Landlord - 3 (and yes, the rug really did tie the lane together):

A pope taking care of business in the woods:

A justice rejecting prior restraint:

Bunny Lebowski, with her cash machine:

Or do you prefer Fawn Knutsen (in one of the more "committed" costumes)?

And, finally ... a metaphor (aka tumbleweed):

The Dude is my hero! I can't believe I missed the "what have you" in his honor.
Obviously, I'm not a golfer.

Dang. These pictures are amazing. I can see how this event brought a smile to your face. It also makes me dream of the day that I might attend a Dark Shadows convention. I need my dreams man, like anyone, to ...continue on this rugged road of life.
(I'm kinda jealous though, cuz I don't think there are any nearly nude lady painters or viking women in Dark Shadows.
Maybe you picked a better show.)

What is the clearance on those bowling pins? Did you have to post the picture of the Landlord with his disgusting sweat stains? Anyways, awesome post... and yes I am jealous.

Great post, Will. You accurately captured our lane and the fest in general. I had a blast hanging with y'all.
