You must have watched the Sunday night television series "ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and thought to yourself someone in your neighborhood would be a perfect subject. It might be the family down the street who adopt unwanted children. It could be a family who lost everything in a fire.

Whatever the reason, odds are you convinced yourself the show would never come here. Think again. The casting department of "ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is looking for potential families in the Fresno area to help.

The press release about the local search says "We are in search of real heroes - people that have amazing strength and who have put their own needs aside to help someone else. In addition to heroics, the producers are looking for families whose homes are in dire need of help. We don't want to tear down a nice looking house. We want to see houses that look like they might fall down on their own!"

To be eligible, a family must own their own single family home. The families also must be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. We all would like a new home. But you know there are some people who desperately need one.

Names and ages of each member of the household.
A description of the major challenges with the home. hat could range from being too small to being on the verge of collapse.
An explanation of why this family is deserving, heroic, or a positive role model in their community.
Photos of the family and a photo of the home.

Don't forget to include a telephone number.

Time is tight. The deadline to nominate someone is Aug. 8.

It is only human nature to think the best way to get attention is to get your church or civil group together and sent tons of applications for one family. That's not necessary. The casting office asks you not send multiple nominations for the same family. And face it, if the story is good enough all it will take is one email.
