From Downtown Hanford to the Tower District ...
Soon you needn't go to Downtown Hanford for some of that yummy ice cream from Superior Dairy. Here's some ice cream (and Tower District) news from today's Word on the Street:
An ice cream shop is planned for the Tower District. The former Tower Barber Shop, which closed after 55 years in 2006, is scheduled to open in early June as Scoops.Jeff Hough will open the shop next to the Million Elephant restaurant. Hough ran J Ho's Bar & Grill, which closed when Hough sold the lease to the Million Elephant. The new shop will serve ice cream from the Superior Dairy in Hanford.
"It's well-known as far as the quality," he said of the ice cream. "People travel to Hanford all the time to get it."

Comments:

We do know what's going into the former Drug Fair! (No Trader Joe's, but it is still a grocery store.)The below ran in last week's Word on the Street. There's more tidbits from yours truly (I'm the Bee's retail reporter) and others over at the Bee's business blog.
Plans call for the former Drug Fair in the Tower District to reopen as a grocery store.
Drug Fair, at Van Ness and Olive avenues, closed several months ago. Abdul Hussein plans to reopen it as Tower Market & Deli within the next few months.
He owns small grocery stores in Kerman and throughout Fresno County. Plans call for a deli counter that will serve meat and sandwiches. Hot food, including Mexican food, also will be available.
The store is behind the former Lauck's, which has reopened as Panaderia Natalie's.

Now Ed, I don't know that they blog war over on the other Beehive blogs -- so go easy.

So hot to trot Ed. You looking for a job over there?
I'd recommend keeping it to blog warring though, especially after the results of the Blogger Olympics. Bethany might destroy you.
