arrow Did They Just Say Fresno? Yep, they all are.

This whole Fresno State winning the College World Series thing has really put a hamper on my Internet searches for mentions of Fresno. Because, uhhhh, they're all saying Fresno.

You gotta love SI's Fres-Yes headline.

I wish they would all stop. I don't care about FSU baseball.

Missy T--
You'd be hardpressed to find someone who is as Anti-Fresno State as I am, but even I'm happy for the team. It is, as they say, a Cinderella story--and I'm a sucker for an underdog. I think it's good that the school is going to get some good press (at least for a while). The heat is on the other sports programs now to see if they can produce a championship team.

I'm going to refrain from being mean Missy, but this isn't just about college baseball, it's about community pride. It's nice to actually have Fresno in the news on a positive note and not have it be some scandal or stupid Prius commercial. People have rallied around the team because they are portraying Fresno in a positive way and it's something to be proud of.

But I'm sure all the NATIONAL coverage will stop now since you don't care about FSU baseball.

I'm soooo proud of my dogs!!! and i can say MY dogs because i am a bulldog also!!! i must admit after being a student for 3 years, i still do not own 1 FSU article of clothing or paraphenalia. sad.
But what i really want to know is, why arent any of those cute baseball players in any of my classes?

Congratulations to the boys on their win. Their hard work paid off and they earned their sweet victory. Though "HERE" is a perspective that may be worth pondering.

Missy T...if you don't care about FSU baseball why would you comment on it; you must have been interested to have taken the time to read about them and leave a comment. Doesn't make sense! The bulldogs gave Fresno something to take pride in on a national level, everytime the commentators talked about Fresno and the community support of their Fresno State Athletics it made me proud to have two children attend this school. Go Dogs!!

now that we've won, and today is the celebration, how long until we stop talking about this?

not to be a hater, but fresno has a lot more to offer than college sports. i'm genuinely happy for these athletes, and i'm glad that we're able to bask in the national spotlight for a moment.

but, i'll also be glad when the bandwagon quiets back down.

btw, i was looking @ different news sites last night and thought it was interesting how different ones covered the event:
-of course, there wasn't really any other story visible on the bee.
-espn did a good job covering a national sports event.
-sf gate (chronicle's website) had a story on the front.
-la times, nothing. seriously. i even clicked on their sports section and they only had a story about tuesday's game.

It was nice to see Fresno State mentioned at the top of the Today show. Matt, Al and Ann were talking about how great of a achievement it was until Meredith ruined it all by asking why teams does a dogpile after they win a championship. Awesome.
