ROGUE REVIEW: It Could Be Worse: My Life in the Central Valley
“It Could Be Worse: My Life in the Central Valley” is what many people say growing up here is not: Fun. Yeah, with a capital F.
The 45-minute play is the work of three high-school aged young ladies, Jeannie Sellick, Heidi Sheppard and Angela Beevers (who also has writing credits), and tells stories of growing up in Kerman and Fresno through a series of blog entries acted out as short vignettes.
In each of dozen or so vignettes, the three actresses flip into different characters and costumes, showing unexpected range and bringing charisma and humor to each scenario -- whether it’s the trauma that comes with breaking crayons in pre-school, pondering people named Jesus, going to dentist or recounting run-ins with biker gangs.
“It Could be Worse” has a quick pace and is good for many laughs, as evident by the packed house that hooting along at Dianna’s South on Friday night. Probably the only negative is that the show is only playing the first week of the Rogue Festival. So if you want to see it, you better hurry.
Playing: 4 p.m. Saturday (3/1), 8:30 p.m. Sunday (3/2) at Dianna’s South, 726 N. Fulton St. Cost: $4. Rating: PG-13.

Comments:
I don't think I liked it as much as you did, but I didn't dislike it as much as some of the people who posted reviews on the Rogue site. There's quite a discussion going on there... http://roguefestival.com/rogue08/?p=142
