Thursday, Oct. 4: The busiest day in Fresno EVER! What are you doing?
OK, probably not ever. But it's the first Thursday of the month, which always means there's a lot going on, thanks to ArtHop. But this Thursday is extraordinarily packed with goings-on. Seriously, slap the next people who says there's nothing to do in Fresno.
ArtHop
Enjoy the usual arting, hopping, wine drinking, chip-stealing and running into people you only see once a month. Check out fresnoarthop.org for specifics.
ArcHop
ArcHop is like ArtHop, but with architecture. A number of local architecture firms will present their work hoping "to raise awareness of architectural community's contributions." It's from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Fresno at 1416 Broadway St. at Tuolumne St. Check out the flier for more info.
The Big Fresno Fair & Chris Daughtry
The fair started. So if you're in the mood for deep-friend Pepsi (seriously!) or in the mood for a bald guy who was once on "American Idol" -- just kidding, Mr. Daughtry, you're sooooo much more than that -- the fair is the place to be. I should be nice to Chris, though, I'm going on stage to promote The Bee before Daughtry hits the stage. I don't need him to be known as the bald guy who was once on "American Idol" and who beat up a blogger.
The Fresno Cultural Arts Conference
The brains behind Fresno's cultural arts come together for a day of networking and sessions aimed at triggering growth in our arts community. Here's what's happening. Beehiver Donald Munro is one of the speakers!
Patrick Contreras
For the showcase performance of the Cultural Arts Conference, local rock violinist Patrick Contreras was hand-picked to headline at Warnors Theatre. And he's trying to beat Daughtry. Seriously. Read the Q & A. He's got a great assortment of guests joining him. It'll be something to see.
Poltergeist - The 25th Anniversary
Movie theaters nationwide -- 250 total -- will celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Poltergeist" with a 7:30 p.m. showing. Edwards Stadium 21 and Manchester Mall 16 are two of them. Get more details here.
Shaolin Warriors
The Shaolin Warriors, a mix of martial arts and choreographed theater, hit the Saroyan Theatre stage. Here's Donald Munro's breakdown. You can buy tickets here.
Fulton Plaza Thursdays
I think there's a Fulton Plaza Thursdays concert. There should be. Oct. 4 is supposed to be the last date, according to this flier. But there's no performer listed here. Hmmm. I should call the Downtown Association. Nobody there. Hmmm. I'll try again. OK, so Heavy Weather and Paul Posas are playing. Is it just me who has a bad feeling about the future of Fulton Plaza Thursdays?
More music options
Dave Alvin is playing at Club Fred. Derek Webb is at Fresno Pacific University. Death Before Dishonor is at The Exit. And Vince Neil will appear at a Rocktoberfest pre-party at Tachi Palace in Lemoore while Mr. Rude plays.
As for the locals: Flywright is at Milano. Global Reps and Lunchbox are at Babylon. For the usual post-ArtHop indie bash at Tokyo Garden, Rademacher is joined by Light FM, Circles and Circles and Sleepover Disaster.
The Usual
There's also the usual Thursday night club events: Salsa night at Starline. Reggae night at Veni Vidi Vici. Ron Thompson at Crossroads. And let's not forget On the Rocks, Smokehouse, The Cellar and Rep's.
So ...
1. What are you doing? You surely can't stay home, can you?
2. Did I miss anything? If so, leave a comment and let me know.

Comments:
The Office.
The Office is what's happening, Mike Oz. You may have thrown over Jim and Dwight for some American Idol reject, but not I.
NOT I, MIKE OZ.

HMac, put in a friggin' videotape and come join us at the Warnor's Theatre.
By join us, I mean of course 'join me.'
ie, what time should I pick you up?
Seriously, tho, folks...2200 seats is a buttload. May as well come see the guy, right? Only 10 bucks. Heck, HMac will spend that much on washcloths to wipe off her forehead from all that sweaty panting.

i am down to the corridor 2212 to see the baddest-assest fresno artist display his wares... his name is Stinkboy and he is here: www.stinkboy.com. he's designed toys and tshirts for bands like less than jake and fall out boy. again, because he's the baddest-assest fresno artist evarrrr.
then i will probably get drunk off the free wine and cheese and stumble into something going on, since you can't swing a dead cat without hitting something happening, then subsequently being arrested for animal cruelty.

Thanks for mentioning the Stinkboy show. He's really dope. I hella dig his style.
As a matter of fact, I was just reading this Q & A with him over at Fresno Famous.
So yeah, ArtHop folks, be sure to make that show one of your stops.
