What's Going on This Weekend?
The Tower District does it best New Orleans imitation on Sunday, as it busts out its annual Mardi Gras parade along Olive Avenue.
Among the performers this year: MoFo Party Band, Sippy & Ol' Guzzler, Lonesome Jem & The Lunatics, Dead Hooker Society, Three Bags Full and Viper City Brass Band. It starts at 1 p.m. Cross your fingers for no rain. Both start at 2 p.m.
Afterward, there's a couple options to keep the party going: Three Guys Playin' the Blues perform at Sequoia Brewing Co. while Glen Delpit & The Subterraneans hits the recently renovated Club Fred stage.

Comments:
Before going to the Tower Dist., do 2 things:
1. Think about why there are no older photographs of the Tower Dist around - they seem to have vanished.
2. Take a look at my webpage:

While you are enjoying the festivities of the Mardi Gras, take a good look at the buildings. Heartbreaking, isn't it.

Survived the Mardi Gras parade today--the poor planning of the cops was evident! It's a miracle no one got ran over by the floats towards the end of the parade--there was no serious effort to keep the crowd out of the middle of the street.
Also apparent was that the cops didn't know about the percussion demonstration in front of Palamino's. First, they opened the street and started running traffic down Olive. Then they realized there were still people milling in the street, and ordered them to clear off. Next came multiple police vehicles, a lot of head scrathing, then the ever-moving street closure. At one point, they were running traffic through the Revue parking lot and down the alley behind the Landmark. FUBAR!
