Bulldogs recruits

The Fresno State football program landed several recruits that should make positive impacts and contribute to the team's success next season. Are you satisfied with Pat Hill's recruiting efforts?

Comments:

exceptional job, filled a lot of immediate needs as well as down the road, but no matter what I say he will still have all the Pat Hill bashers questioning every move he makes.

Were we stealing recruits from Pac-10 schools 9 years ago? Were we inking the Sacramento Bee player of the year 9 years ago? Coach Hill's flirtation with the NFL may have cost us a recruit or 2, but c'mon people...these classes get better every year. Great job coach.

It's true, that every year our players are getting better, but the games lost between 2001-2005 had nothing to do with talent. In 2001 (Carr's last year), during the regular season we lost 2 games that dropped us from a number 8 national ranking to falling out of the polls all together, because of Pat Hill's play calling. At home against BSU, up 20 points Hill continued trying to run the ball to no avail, we lost. Against Hawai'i, up 21 in the second half, Hill tried to established the run, to no avail. We again lost a game in hand. Oregon and Tulsa in 2005 again. One, two, three, four times is a definite pattern. I could go on and on... It's time to put last seasons' miserable failings behind us, the team, and Pat Hill. But remember it, because if it starts happen again, its time to fix the problem. We have the money, fans, and talent pool, but we need the correct calls from our head couch.
GO DOGS, GO FRESNO, GO PAT HILL

What a fine recruiting class. 1/3 of the area recruits inked with the bulldogs this year. It is nice to watch hometown kids play at a highly competitive level here in Fresno. Its especially nice that these athletes could have played in just about any other College program in the nation. It sure is a testiment to Hill that they choose Fresno State for their College Education.

I believe coach Hill did an exceptional job with the recruits this year. He's recruited some exciting and talented young players. Keep in mind, he did have some players choose Fresno State over some BCS conference teams. For all those nay sayers or fair weather friends, yes the team has lost some games to teams we should have beat. So what! The most important message is the one that continues to echo throughout college football and the country and that is "Fresno State is a great team, look out they'll knock off any program, and don't under estimate them." Those are the things that people from all over the country say. I recently spent some time in Salt Lake City, Utah. I met some fellow professionals there at a conference and these individuals were from Vermont, mind you. These people were saying, "wow you support the bulldogs, they have an awesome football team, that coach of theirs has done a phenomenal job" as they saw my bulldog pullover. Other individuals from different parts of the country were making similar comments as I waited for my flight home from the Salt Lake airport. People from other parts of the country don't think we have a great football program because we beat boise state or could have one the WAC. It's the excitement and the intesity that Fresno state provides when they play. Therefore, who cares that we lost to Nevada and LA-Tech. Our football program is getting bigger and better. Coach Hill continues to make improvements and hopefully we can sellout our stadium so that we can get that expansion. Coach Hill keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

Well done. However we have a 0-4 streak. Every year we have a melt down.

Lets see in 2006 if we repeat the melt downs or BCS or bust!

It hurts that we seemed to lose some of the fire at the end of the season, but still a huge year. How funny that a team that finnished the year unranked, can still be one of if not the most feared team to find on your non conference schedule. I'm a valley transplant in Oregon, and the Bulldogs get much respect up here for sure(take away some real bad calls and we crush the ducks), no one who has watched the Dawgs play can deny how strong this program has become, and 10 more Hill years can only mean good things!GO DAWGS! And please beat the crap out of Oregon when they visit next year, I hate those cheatin Ducks!Great recruits too, but then again they should be who wouldn't want to play here?

Isn't it interesting, that fame usually trumps excellence in American society? I travel nationally, and find what others have already mentioned quite often: we are nationally recognized and respected because we are famous, even though we can't win the WAC. Excellence is proven by championships, but the fame created by Coach Hill does not require excellence--just some well-timed wins over BCS schools (who are often in a rebuilding or otherwise "down" years).

This shows a lot of savy on Hill's part, yet true fans--and yes, those of us who grow more frustrated with each years meltdown repeat are true-but-not-blind fans--can and should expect our 'Dogs to win games against lesser teams. Will this years recruiting class make a difference? We were greatly exposed due to lack of depth and speed on the defensive side this year, so yes the new players that have been touted as speed demons should have impact; a few this year.

Thanks Coach for making our school famous. Now, with these quick, new recruits, can you make us champions?

Our recruiting class ranks #96 in the country. In the WAC we out recruited La Tech, New Mexico St., Hawaii and Utah St.

We did not out recruit a single team from the SEC, Pac-10, Big -12, ACC, Big Ten, Big East, Notre Dame, Temple or Navy, all of Conf. USA except UTEP, all but New Mexico and Air Force in the MWC.

We did out recruit Army of the 1-A independents. And everyone but Troy in the Sun Belt conference.

Coach Hill would have you all believe that the Dogs were not hurt by the NFL courting him, I say, it hurt us and for not reason, there was not a single team SERIOUSLY considering him as there coach.

Hill has everyone in Fresno in the palm of his hand, when you look at the job he is doing recruiting, vs the rest of the country, he is underachieving.

I will give you that he can make the most of nothing. He is a very good coach, but he can't recruit, and his courtship with the NFL hurt his team.
