John Clifton-produced record wins award in Poland

pOLAND BLKUES GALA AND KRACKOW 2013 004MoFo Party Band ring leader John Clifton is in Poland in advance of the band’s European tour, which kicks off in early May. He’s there to accept an award for producing the Polish blues band The Boogie Boys, whose album “Made In’ Cali” was voted Album of the Year, by the European Blues Union.

The album has deep connections to Fresno. Along with being produced by Clifton, it was recorded at Wolfsound Audio Studio and features several local musicians, including Clifton’s brother Bill Clifton, Ron Thompson, Mike Miller and Ed Burke, William Morris, Ron Cantalano and Roger Perry. Perry also wrote lyrics for two of the songs.

The Boogie Boys are a popular, young Euopean blues group and finalists at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

“It’s a great Euro/Fresno connection and a real milestone for the Fresno music scene. This is a great award in Poland and the CD is real popular here,” Clifton says. “A lot of Polish people know where Fresno is now.”

It’s not even funny how popular the MoFo boys are in Poland and other Eastern European cities. But we love them here at home too!

WTG John!

The Mofos are constantly doing their hometown proud both with their many out-of-country tours, and their constant playing all over California. Any kudos they receive are well-earned & well-deserved.
