There’s a big opening today at the Fresno Art Museum. “Breakthrough” celebrates six cutting-edge contemporary artists with Valley connections, any of whom could be “the next big thing” in the art world. I have a Q&A interview with museum director Linda Cano about the exhibition in Thursday’s Life section. From Cano’s interview:
It makes clear that the Valley has a very exciting future of bright, young talent. The “Breakthrough” artists take their work very seriously, and the energy that the artists and their work bring collectively in one show is much stronger than individually. I think that showing these young artists together has pushed them a bit, and because they know and respect each other’s work the exhibition has come together in a more dynamic way.
The “Breakthrough” artists will speak about their work at 3:30 p.m. today at the museum. The opening reception is 6-8 p.m.
