This day in Beehive history: Sept. 4, 2008

For no reason other than it amuses me, I’m going to take a look back at what was going on on the Beehive September 4th, four years ago today. Not a nostalgia fan? No problem. Feel free, as ever, to GTFO.

Things the Beehive was obsessed with September 4, 2008: Robert Downey Jr.’s facial hair, football, Peanuts, Twilight, Sarah Palin and the Tower Theatre. As ever, the more things change, the more they stay the same (except for our interest in Sarah Palin. No one on earth gives two sh*ts about her anymore).

Here’s my post from four years ago:

“Robert Downey Jr. Pornstache Watch 2008: Update”

Let’s check in with Robert Downey Jr.’s porntastic mustache, shall we?

Oh yeah. Still awesome.

The ‘stache is so fab it makes whatever is happening in the following picture perfectly reasonable, no explanation necessary:

I’ll say it for you: Slow news day, huh? (For the record, the Beehive in its present incarnation has never been about news, just entertainment, as it clearly reads on the masthead.)

Elsewhere on the Beehive, former Beehiver Felicia Matlosz was sad about Charles Schultz’s death, but excited about changes to the outside of the Tower Theatre.

Kathy lamented the postponement of Stephanie Meyer’s Midnight Sun, while former Beehive writer Will Albritton detailed his fantasy football draft and Don Mayhew made fun of Sarah Palin’s appearance at the Republican National Convention. (Donald and Mike clearly had the day off, and I believe this is before Rick joined the team.)

Like I said, this is probably only interesting to me, but it’s fun to look back at what was on our minds in years past.

And I’m certain I commented on every post. I’m also certain WetTowel had something (lengthy) to say right after I commented.

The more things change…

Awesome that the Beehive has endured and maintained strength long enough to dig into Nostalgia! Keep on truckin’.
