From Filmworks: This American independent drama won the prestigious FIPRESCI Prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. The movie stars Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon as Curtis, a husband and father from a small Ohio town who is plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions. He chooses to keep the disturbance to himself, channeling his anxiety into the obsessive building of a storm shelter in his family’s backyard — a shelter for his family from the storm and perhaps from himself. His behavior confounds his wife and the townspeople, and it stokes his fear of what his disastrous dreams may truly signify. Co-starring Jessica Chastain and directed by Jeff Nichols.
