NOtown Roller Derby helps Fresno Bully Rescue
As if you needed another reason to attend the NOtown roller derby bout this Saturday, a portion of ticket sales will benefit the Fresno Bully Rescue.
The Fresno Bully Rescue is a volunteer-based, no-kill shelter that finds both temporary and forever homes for bully breed dogs that have been rescued from abusive homes or shelters where they were to be euthanized.
The NOtown ladies will be collecting donations for FBR; a list of needed items appears after the jump.
• Money or gift cards
• Dog food (dry and canned)
• Adjustable collars and durable leashes
• Metal food and water bowls
• Fleece blankets
• Towels
• Dog grooming supplies (shampoo, nail clippers, ear cleaners)
• Durable toys (Kong’s brand, etc.)
• Large dog crates
• Large dogloos
• 1 gallon metal buckets
• Tarps, zip ties, bungee cords, carabiners
• Astro turf or carpet
• Pooper scoopers
• Decomposed granite cement pavers
• Plastic kiddie pools
• Cleaning supplies (bleach, dish soap, buckets, Windex, trash bags, latex gloves, brooms, sponges, etc.)
• 100 ft. garden hoses
• Yard equipment/tools
• Lowes black kennels (5×10)
• Corrugated metal roofing
• Office supplies
I’m told the shelter is mostly in need of food, but other items are appreciated as well. Bring your donation to the FBR booth at the bout, and you’ll receive raffle tickets for the NOtown prize drawing; the bigger/better the donation, the more raffle tickets you’ll receive.

Thank you for your support Heather! Not many people realize what a detrimental impact the housing crash and foreclosures have had on pets, particularly in the Valley where the crisis was especially bad and bully breeds are popular. The shelter needs our help with the number of rescues on the rise and their resources spread thin. These poor dogs are bred to endure and protect but are often exploited for their strength and potential ferocity, so we at NOtown Roller Derby want to do everything we can to help the Fresno Bully Rescue place these precious animals in safe and loving environments. So even if you can’t make it to roller derby, try to find the time to help out the FBR or your local no-kill shelter!
I’m going shopping tomorrow!! I wish I could adopt. =)
