WTF moment of the day year
You guys, I just don’t know what’s happening lately. I’m talking about children. In sexual-like situations. There’s the Polanski thing, and the Brooke Shields thing, and the Miley Cyrus thing. And now a 9-year old in Peru is getting attention for making a shot-for-shot video cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic.”
You’re familiar with Britney Spears, right? Super-conservative pop singer who sings about puppies and unicorns while wearing turtlenecks and long skirts?
Sigh. I’m not even certain I should post this (consider this a warning), but I want everyone else to be as outraged as I am, immediately.
Parents. Come on. Do you have to make it that easy for the pedophiles? Because I’m certain this child did not put together this video with the kids from her third grade class.
Responses to "WTF moment of the
dayyear"Paging Roman Polanski, Roman Polanski, White Courtesy Phone, Please.
Gross. And silly. But really just gross.
Of all the people I know, I would have to say I’m probably the creepiest of them all. Miley Cyrus? Hot. Britney in that school-girl outfit? Hotter. Natalie Portman in ‘The Professional?’ Okay, that’s stretching it.
But this video, along with ANY child put into pageants ala JonBenet? Absolutely sick. Put those parents in jail and take those kids away. I’m talking to YOU, Dina Lohan (Ali isn’t hot, she’s a tot).
Dominique Swain in “Lolita?” Hot.
This video? Sick as f**k.
I’m not outraged as much as stupified. Like … wha??!! There’s some high production value here. Is it supposed to be a joke? Some kind of statement on the sexification (is that a word) of youth?
no comment
It would be nice if people, especially in the central valley, would stop trying to impose their own lifestyle and parenting choices onto everyone around them.
I’m definitely no fan of Brittney Spears, or of most of the decisions she makes, but that doesn’t put me in a position to assume that the decisions I make for myself and my children are the right decisions for someone else to make for their self and their children.
There is absolutely no place for the “morality police” in any society that values individual freedom and values ideas of “small, limited government” as the conservatives claim to.
Along with most of the rest of the world, I’ll take a pass on your evangelism Heather, as I have no use for it. It would be nice if you would learn that the rest of the world is not bound to live according to the archaic, rigid moral system you wish everyone else would adhere to or face severe punishment.
Not cool in the least.
~Rell.
Holy ****! This is unbelieveable. Youtube should be told to take this down. It’s hard to believe the parents would allow it to happen.
People need to get on to Youtube and “flag” this as inappropriate. URGENTLY
just as an fyi…
(I read this off of a link from the Polanski articles.)
Do a search of ‘age of consent’ laws and penalties in other countries some time…
Peru?
12
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you didn’t read my previous post, the one in which I advocated for a group of consenting adults to engage in a public meeting of the minds over Bloody Marys and eggs, sans clothing.
I am about as far from a conservative as one can be and I think the video is disturbing at best. The decision making skills of that little girl’s parents ( all the girls parents…. you weren’t totally creeped out by the mile high club bathroom scene??) needs to be called into serious question.
If you think that being against the sexualization of children is an “archaic, riged moral system” I am saddened that you have children and pray that you don’t come within 100 feet of mine. The child is NINE. NINE! ( yes, I’m ‘shouting’ because I’m hoping it’ll sink in… N I N E).
Videos like this help contribute to the sexual molestation of children. Videos like the above give pedophiles the green light to think that their fantasies are “normal”. Does it cause a ‘normal’ person to rape children? Not necessarily, but the more one “normalizes” something, the more acceptable it becomes. To the most deviant it becomes a green light to act. To an unthinking, uncaring society it becomes some hushed story. To the child… it’s the end of life as they knew it.
Seriously, put down the entitlement chip and research what the dangers that mainstreaming the sexualization of children does to children.
It’s no wonder you chose not to post your name. I can only hope that you’re on some anti- Heather ( sorry Heather) high horse and not serious.
I think Heather needs to change the WTF Moment of the day from the video to annon’s comment, because that deserves the biggest WTF?
Fine. When she’s 12 she can make the video.
she’s NINE.
And Annon?? On behalf of all creepers everywhere, shut the hell up. HMac? Archaic?!?!?
You’ve gotta be kidding me.
But the sexualization of unable-to-consent 9 year olds (and pageanted 6 year olds and 4 year olds) is child abuse.
Look, I was one of the biggest advocates for student/teacher hook-ups ever UNTIL I befriended a woman who, at age 28, regretted every second of her hook-up. She was 17 (then 18), she was hott, it was her seducing the teacher, and it was as consensual as it gets. The teacher was young, good looking, and by all accounts, this shoulda been no problem. I mean, if the Good Lord didn’t want them to hook up, he wouldn’ta made the parts work and the people so hot, right?
My friend hit therapy at age 17. She always regarded the male teacher as a creep/louse, even tho she started it and they professed love for each other. She wanted someone to say NO.
The 9 year old in Peru is swimming in the adoration, far too young to know/care that grinding on a 9 year old boy is something she’s not mentally nor physically prepared for. And then to have it be a huge production where she’s surrounded by adults, has to relate more maturely, and is now regarded as a pedophile’s wet dream online?
No. A Million times NO, Annon. And nobody is more to the left on this issue than I am. Nobody.
But this child is being abused, no matter how badly she stomps her feet and claims to ‘want it.’
“wet towel” does that make it OK? Does that mean it should be introduced everywhere? In Afghanistan they’ve just passed a law that makes it legal for a man to starve his wife if she refuses to have sex. Should that be introduced everywhere? It is our responsibility as members of a global village to speak up and protect each other. Particularly to protect children who don’t have the tools to protect themselves from exploitative adults. And fyi the children in the clip are 9 not 12.
Heather after finding your post about this I did some digging and found that this version you’ve put up isn’t the original. A user called misvideosmagicos first posted it (but am pretty sure they just got it from somewhere else too). Anyway I flagged it and let my Facebook friends know about it. 2hrs later it was removed. It IS worth speaking up. What’s that saying?; The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing…
So well done. Hopefully this version will come down too.
BTW that Naked Brunch in Melbourne was held at my café. That’s how I happened along your site! Was Googling the event. My husband’s butt features in some shots! And yes – he’s an actual adult. And we have a 9yo so I have a fairly good understanding of how much protecting they need.
Hand on did I in fact misunderstand “wet towel”…? The post first came across in a bad way. I just re-read it and maybe that’s not what they meant. If not – sorry. I’d just finished reading “annon”s comment and was kind of reeling from that.
just do what you want to do and live how you want to live, and SHUT THE F*** UP about it.
That was your cafe? Cool! This isn’t the right thread for this conversation, but maybe on the other thread you can tell us some more info, like …
Are you a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival? Did they approach you, or was the Naked Brunch your idea? Did you have to get some kind of special permission for the event? Were there a ton of gawkers outside your windows? Who had to wipe up the chairs afterward? And finally, is it totally awesome to live in Australia? Because it seems like it would be.
-yeah, I kind of figured Stephen’s spin on my remark may miscast it.
That’s okay, I’ll clarify.
This is long.
I’d not advise packing or eating a lunch during it, however.
What I was pointing out, (by pointing out the age of consent of other countries,
–in this case, Peru,)
was how at such grossly innapropriate ages, other countries consider ‘age of consent’ to be,
-and how such things (no doubt) give way to the sexualization of children.
(Again, this was after the Polanski string (which, if you want to see my feelings on the issue there?
follow the (2) links,
(one asking regarding the money being spent on getting Polanski back into the US (Donald Monroe)
-and
Heathers commentary/list of actors who dissapprove of the effort to bring him to justice.)
My feelings are far from veiled on the subject.
(In case you’re wondering?
Though I am decidedly against capitol punishment, and do not believe in taking of human life?
-I think the one area where I possibly would have no problem ending someone’s life with my bare hands?
-Would be in cases of abuse of a child, elder, disabled person, (etc), and particularly would have a hard time restrainng from vigilanteism in cases of child sexual abuse.
That’s just the truth.
It’s hard for me to be in the same room with a known (active) abuser, -even in a theraputic setting, and I’ve had to do such many times.
(Probably a good reason why I’ll never become a police officer, I could very definitely put a bullet in somebody doing something filthy to a kid, if I caught them.)
-As a nurse/caregiver?
I have to take the stance that I am not there to judge someone, and will see them brought to best health (and) best justice –which is not my decision.
If they are brought to full health, are found guilty in a trial of law, and are fried for their atrocities?
No problem.
-I’ve worked with these people groups for years, and have raised too many kids and adults who’ve gone through this abuse, and know the damage.
-None of them are the same after they’ve been violated.)
That having been said.
This is an FYI.
(-more of a comparisson between what is considered ‘socially acceptable/morally acceptable’ in other countries (and states) and what (most) people reading this would agree to.
(Note: NOT meant to slander any peoplegroup, as the United states IS nothing more than a large group of immegrants,
some just more recent than others, all acting like ‘they belong here, and others ‘don’t.’)
Countries (age of consent) by Continent/Country
(Source BTW is Wikipedia, so there may be some innacuracies.)
(South America)
Argentina: 13
Bolivia: ‘puberty’ –that can be as low as ’9 or 8,’ depending upon the individual.
Brazl: 14
Chile: 14
Columbia: 14
Ecuador: 14
Guyanna: 13
Paraguay: 14
Peru: 12 (country of origin of the video)
Suriname: (16 hetero 18 homo)
Uraguay: 15
Venezuela: 16
Middle America was higher (15 to 18, I believe)
Africa:
-on average the age is 14 to 16,
most countries are 18,
some as young as 12,
and in kenya (m)homosexuals get 25 years in jail (f) no charges.
-In a lot of these countries?,
They just kill ‘gay’ folks, in a lot of cases by burning them alive.
Asia/(mid-far east)
I’m seeing mostly 16-18,
some 15 (quick scan)
Japan: 13
Philipines: 12
N. Korea: 15
S. Korea: 13
‘Russia’: 16
Europe:
I’m seeing mostly 15-17, with a LOT of 14
Spain: is 13
Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia (etc) 14
Germany: 14
Italy: 14
Lithuania: 14
Poland: 15
US States:
All US States are 16 to 18,(18 still will invite weapons fire in most areas.)
Canada is 16
Mexico:
(sorry, this is not good.)
VERY COMPLEX, but the following points are a bit glaring
-by provence/states (I’m assuming provinces)
Narayit/Quaretero: ‘Puberty’ (again, this can be as young as 8 in young women,)
Mexico City:
(as well as tons of other areas NOT considered to be ‘rural’: 12
Most other areas? 13-14
One at 15
Only one at 18 (Michoacoan, since 2006)
Why the laundry list?
Look at those countries.
Tell me WHICH ones are supposed to be ‘backward and barbaric, to allow the unchallanged abuse of children.’
-In actuality?, some of the most ‘advanced’ countries endorse what IS considered (obvious) punishible child molestation here in the US.
14? Germany?
Dude, I’m German.
(That’s hideous.)
There are some countries I simply would not want to see young women taken to (as tourists or to move to (on business) –as in the minds of those citizens? It’s okay to have sex with a minor ‘if they were agreeing.’
-Again, hideous.
Spain, Japan, 13, Philipines?
Mexico? twelve, only one at 18, and that was only since 2006, which in terms of moral/legal codes, makes it basically ‘last week.’
‘Puberty’
btw, as a definer, is an especially horrifying classification, as this age,
(with the use of steroids in food and such) has dropped to cases (at times) as young as 7 or 8 years. (not 10, not 9, ‘Second and Third graders’ (though somewhat rare, this is not unheard of.)
4th and 5th graders? -are 9 and 10.
Now there is a further consideration:
Just as a person is ‘close to an age’ and will claim it?
‘…Well, I’m 15 and a half, but I’m almost 17, so I can drive now, –with consent and guidance, so long as I don’t leave the property…’
(or)
‘…Will you grow up? you’re practically 30…’ (when an individual is actualy 25 or 26.)
Pushing the limits is common, and people will do so for their own desires.
–take the ages above (none of which, if you’re talking interraction with an adult are reasonable, –some, outright demonic)
–Take those ages and drop them by a year or two…
‘…well, yeah, she LOOKED 14,’
‘…She LOOKED 12,’
‘…They were ‘Sorta Developed.’
What kind of monster actually says that?
If that doesn’t make you want to puke?
There’s something very wrong with you.
What I found shocking (when I checked this out (again, due to the Polanski issue) was how so many of these countries are not just ‘associates’ in business, –but allies as well.
Spain?
Japan?
Mexico City?
Also,
-with the constant influx of people from these countries?
(Again, NOT a problem, it in no way means that someone from one of these places is a child-abuser,)
–BUT different cultures look very differently at ‘how young is too young’
-different eyes than someone who is from a culture that is VERY aware of ’18 or 21.’
(I didn’t even know that you could BE a consenting sexual participant at 16 anywhere in the US.)
I personally think that sexual involvement (even nudity) including portrayal in artwork and photography, movies, etc.)
–is a very narrow thing,
Absolutely no minors. Period.
I’m a figure painter by training.
In no way is it to be done be done by anyone under (at least!) 18, -and most of my models were well seasoned and well into their twenties in ‘controlled’ settings,(like school.)
-but ‘consenting sexual acts’ (with an adult?)
I find even 21 year olds are still thrown by it, when they’re being honest about the impact.
(I’m from a different world.. back east, Metro Area?,
you can’t even go into a topless bar (or) adult book store under the age of 21, legally,
–and people go OFF if those places are located anywhere near a child’s institution younger than a Jr. College. (usually 18 to 19 age starting)
-Most neighborhoods don’t want them at all.
Someone else stated it,
but I think it bears repeating:
Being physically intimate with another person really isn’t even about ‘how old you are.’
-There are tons of people ‘above age’ that get involved that don’t know what they’re doing, get really messed up by it
(because they are too immature emotionally)
–and there ARE predators at all ages, who take advantage of people of all ages.
(They just ‘can’t be prosecuted for ‘sex with a minor’ charges under a certain age.
The sad part is:
so often what is blatant rape and/or a punishible offence is dismissed by the victim, and never dealt with
(because)
they just don’t want to go through the hassle, fear, and want it ‘just done with.’
(or)
are afraid of the stigma/or that the perpetrator will be ‘put through undue legal action,
when they’re really a nice person.’
-You see that a LOT.
Personally?
I don’t know anyone who I’d consider ‘nice,’ let alone excusable, who’d take advantage of another human being, –especially sexually.
I don’t know of anything I’d consider to be a ‘human being’ who’d consider it ‘normal’ and ‘defendable’ to have any sort of ‘mature relationship’ (be it physical or otherwise) with a person as young as so many of these other countries see as ‘legal.’
Again, keep in mind.
When people look at that age list?
(Usually, in defence of ‘an act’)
they will ‘go as low as legally possible’ –and as close to ‘legal’ as they can get, –to get away with it.
This is NOT at all about ‘relationships that mean equality, respect, decency, and treatment of the partner with ANYTHING that constitutes or legitimizes’ (much less establishes a healthy relationship)
-where sexual involvement should be even considered.
(Liana)
-yeah, I think it was misread,
-but it’s a very difficult subject, a lot of us have strong feelings about it, (and)
- to clear it up?
I did respond to explain where I was coming from, (not at you, directly, just at the issue.)
(I didn’t take your question at all as an accusation, just a question, -which is completely fine.)
Btw?
-though I didn’t list it…(most of it was pretty spotty and not definitive.
Australia ‘the age’ -looks to be 16.
-Still young in my book,
(but the US is 16-18, Great Britain and Canada is 16.)
But I’m not so worried.
Down Under?
If somebody does something untoward? They’ll just shoot the bastard, and nobody’ll miss’em.
(not a lot of messing around with that sort of thing. A friend of mine moved there in the late 70′s.)
cheers, and enjoy your spring
-e
he he!
will do
