The raping and pillaging of 80s pop culture continues

I know as much about art as I do about fashion [read: nothing at all], but I do know this: it’s completely subjective. Two people can view one piece and one will see pure genius while the other sees pure crap.

The following pieces from Mari Kasurinen, which are My Little Ponies painted up to look like famous movie characters, falls into one of these categories, I’m just not sure which.

Decide for yourself:

Thats just horrible.

That’s awesome! I mean lookit all the detail & hard work that must of gone into creating those. MLP’s were never my bag so maybe if they were taking Transformers and turning them into dude from High School Musical I might oppose that but c’mon: The Bride? The Joker? At least they picked cool movie cats. I think it’s pretty cool….

I love the Chewbacca. But I might feel differently if My Little Ponies were my thing as a child. If someone dressed Strawberry Shortcake up as Catwoman, I might take issue.

Weird is the chewie even a mlp would have looked cooler with Jem dolls ,would love to see girls from the skanky rival band dressed up as brittney,paris & lilo.

Renee N says:

Ok I think this is horrid and hilarious at the same time! I can appreciate the time it took and the detail in each of these… but it’s MLP!

::sigh:: there’s no respect…

Joan Obra says:

I know #5 is supposed to be Jack Sparrow, but it also looks like Lo from “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

Check it out. (Scroll down to the third photo.)
