Chris Brown’s apology vs Rihanna’s beaten face: Which makes you more sick to your stomach?
Last week Chris Brown released the following statement apologizing for allegedly beating the hell out of his girlfriend, Rihanna. Went like this:
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”
I bolded that part in the middle because I feel it’s important to keep it in mind while you take a look at the following photo of Rihanna’s face, taken right after her altercation with Brown. The photo was reportedly leaked by the LAPD to TMZ:
What those pesky blogs reported and what Brown called speculation, was this: “…the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer’s face — there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody.” Looks about spot on, doesn’t it?
For reference, here’s a picture of what Rihanna looks like when she hasn’t been playing stand-in for a punching bag. Notice the shoulder tattoos — an indication the TMZ photo could be legit:
Today is Rihanna’s 21st birthday. Here’s hoping the next year finds her wise and strong enough to stay away from this guy for the rest of her life.

FYI: I thought about whether posting this photo was appropriate for an entertainment blog. It probably isn’t. But in the last week, I’ve read stories about how Rihanna is considering staying with Brown, and how Brown has hired a crisis expert to make sure his career stays intact.
If either of these stories is true, I hope the humiliation of having this spectacle publicly broadcast makes Rihanna seriously reconsider, and kills Brown’s chances of success.
She said she was considering staying with him?! D’Oh! I hope that ain’t true, jeez….
Stay away from him? Are you crazy?! He CAN CHANGE! In fact, SHE can change HIM! He loves her soooo muuuuuuuch. Plus he’s asked God for help, so he MUST be serious.

i’m still not quick to hand out any judgements, but if this is a photo of Rhianna, and Chris Brown is the one responsible for this, then it’s pretty safe to say that his career is over.
I’ve heard a few things about Rhianna talking about reconciling too, and that would be a mistake

Now the ‘beaten’ photo…you can see where the earring was torn out.
I think the TMZ pic is accurate. I also think bitch was just askin’ for it! I mean, she started this sh*t, right?? Jeez, I remember when Courtney Alexander came out smelling like a rose after beating his g/f while she was holding his baby. He served a lousy day in jail and faked his community service and the public still loved his every move, and naturally, the g/f went back with him for some time.
It’s a plague, and I think you definitely should have posted it.
As a woman I am disgusted by that photo. The injuries in that image should NEVER happen to any woman. The LAPD is doing an internal investigation right now to see if they can find out just exactly who leaked it which unfortunately makes the TMZ pic true. When it comes to celebrities I could honestly care less but this is just wrong. If she takes him back she will be a fool. And to think…. I was actually thinking of having a couple of CB’s songs played at my wedding. Pfff… not happening now buddy!

Heather thank you for posting this picture! Long story, longer, there are plenty of women throughout the world who get physically and mentally abused, I’m sure there are small pockets of men who have this happen to them as well; however, the rationale involved in going back to an abuser is besides me…
I don’t buy CB’s excuse and the truth is I’m not the one who has to in the end. If she goes back to him, all of this null and void… In my opinion she could die at his hands! Normal people just don’t beat up the ones they “love”.
Nice to hear his “Pastor” and “Family” are helping him through this. All you have to do is say you’re sorry and everything is fine, apparently. No consequence.
And he’s “saddened”? He’s sad because he got caught and his career is over, rightfully so.

@mr i: a female friend confided in me back in college about a mutual friend who wasnt supportive during a pregnancy scare that involved him. theres more to the story, but the point is, she was really upset. like, i felt she was close to asking me take sides. thing is, they got back together briefly a few months later. the sympathy level went down. being a victim is one thing; but at some point you have to wise up. it’s like they say in texas, “fool me …” (oh, will i ever get tired of bushisms?)

Will, while my knee jerk reaction is to agree with you… there is a mentality to women who are victimized by loved ones. It’s hard to explain, and honestly, I can’t fully wrap my mind around it either. It’s not about being foolish or weak. They aren’t stupid women… but, often, they ARE fighting years of victim training.
We’ll just pretend that I also added my “the way society portrays women” rant here.
All I’m saying is that from the very first “don’t be rude, go hug your uncle” to the last “he’ll change because I love him enough and I know he loves me” we teach women how to ignore their instincts and common sense.

I feel so bad for Chris Brown. I’m saddened, too. How dare Rihanna’s face get in the way of his fists. She should be ashamed of herself. Hopefully “God” will forgive her, as well. Apparentley women beaters get off scott free.
