Just when you thought the Chris Brown/Rihanna thing couldn’t get uglier
By now you’ve heard about singer Chris Brown turning himself in and posting bail on charges stemming from an attack on his girlfriend Rihanna. The alleged assault forced both singers to cancel appearances at the Grammys, caused Wrigley to pull commercials featuring Brown, made Rihanna postpone a concert this week in Malaysia, and is now said to have forced Rihanna to cancel her upcoming 21st birthday party.
Details from the police report are starting to leak, and in case you aren’t already disgusted by how a successful, talented 19-year old could abuse his equally young and successful girlfriend, take a look at the list of injuries Rihanna is said to have suffered (per TMZ):
“…the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer’s face — there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody. We have now confirmed there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.
And we now know this… Rihanna claims Brown struck her with his fists and that’s what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.”

chris brown was possessed by the furly ghost.
Super, super gross. Almost impossible to quantify in words. Just horrendous.
too bad we won’t ever know the story of what really happened.
The story is already being altered from the original story, and now the truth is even muddier. It’s a shame.
BTW, I read that a police officer described her injuries as appearing as if they were inflicted by an MMA fighter. Yeah, sure, like Chris Brown (who is in good shape) hits that hard. I’m not saying he should have hit her, I’m saying that he doesn’t hit that hard.
Get her an umbrella… crazy fella, fella, fella!
I hope she’s smart enough to leave him because I’m sure this isn’t the first time he has but hands on her. Most normal types don’t do acts like this out of the blue, this wasn’t the first “ATTACK” but Lord willing it will be the last for her.
Move on “kid”… Life is too short for any type of abuse!
@Chris: You’re right, no one but Rihanna and Chris Brown knows what happened … except maybe the witness who saw the whole thing and called 911.
Stories alter as details emerge and the picture becomes clearer, but you’re right in that opinion based on conjecture and speculation can “muddy” up a story. Stuff like this, for example:
“I’m not saying he should have hit her, I’m saying that he doesn’t hit that hard.”
Ok… so not to sound Lifetime movie of the week or anything but I think that Rihanna can use this opportunity to help other women who are victims of abuse confront their attackers and actually go to the police. Maybe through this horrid story there can be something good in the aftermath.
@Chris: A man should never, NEVER hit a woman.
@ Heater – crap. Thanks for keeping me honest!
I’d like to retract my original statement that “he doesn’t hit that hard”, I have never met the fellow, and have no idea of how hard he hits….
He’s not, however, a Quentin Jackson or Fedor Emelianenko…
@ Renee – you have an excellent point, and I hope that you are right. Perhaps because of their fame, it will shed a little more light on a subject that isn’t talked about too much, and is way more prevalent than I think people realize.
@Chris: Just giving you a hard time. Props for taking it in stride.
@ Felicia – you are right, a man should never hit a woman.
But what if that woman is bigger stronger and trying to kill me? then what? I’m just supposed to lie there and take it?
I think that if a woman is strong enough to stand up to a man and fight him, then she should also be strong enough to take an ass-whippin’ if one is coming…
DISCLAIMER: I in NO WAY think hitting a woman is a good thing. I love women, and certainly don’t think the female form should be marred by bruises, cuts, or anything that detracts from said form.
ALSO – I am not saying that Rhianna started anything either. I don’t know, and probably never will (It’s not the ‘who’ we should be concerned about anyway…).
hmac,
ugly? both chris brown and rhianna are attractive, young people.
oh, wait, you’re talking about that domestic battery case. my bad.
if Chris Brown wanted to obtain some street cred, he should have beaten the crap out of Puff Daddy.
@ mdub420 – beating up Puff still constitutes putting hands on a woman! His name is “Puff”… and he’s not magic and he’s not a dragon neither!
The witness saw what happend but it was Rhianna who called the police.
As for the whole story, I think these kids are both victims.
Its never okay to hit anyone, even Jessica Alba if I ever got the opportunity.
BUT in all seriousness, Chris Brown was raised by an abusive step-father and kids learn what they see.
They are both still kids. 19 is still very young and while i would never make excuses for any person who hit another person, none of us are in his shoes and none of us know what demons he is fighting.
Unfortunately he will be more villified now than many other celebrities who commit crimes against others. Because he is a man and she is a woman.
But this is the first and only incident we know of, lets give him the opportunity to make this right, own his mistake, make ammends, rehabilitate himself and if he chooses not to, then we can all attack him.
They both need help.
Has anyone mentioned the influence of alcohol? Were either or both of them drunk?? I think the pair of them have an excellent opportunity to reach out to people in similar situations. I hope they order Brown into a batterer’s course, and make him do PSAs or something.
“Hit me again, Chris, and put some stank on it!”
@SamEyeAm: LOLOL
I like Chris Rock’s line: I don’t hit women. You should NEVER hit a woman. I will never hit a woman.
But I’ll shake the sh*t out of one!
Me? I won’t hit a woman. But that vicious woman who spit on me at Starline and started swinging away at me and the actual MMA fighter who were trying to restrain her (after she punched the heck out of her hubby)? I did NOT hit her. But I pulled the hell out of her hair!*
*cuz I’m no MMA fighter either, and hair pulling just seemed like what Oprah would’ve done.
