Matt Damon would be ‘Bourne’ again

“Bourne Legacy,” the latest movie in the “Bourne” series, was released on DVD this week featuring Jeremy Renner taking over the spy duties. He’s not taking over the role played by Matt Damon in the three previous “Bourne” movies but the latest offering in the series is a re-birth of the franchise.

If the right story would come along, Damon would gladly go back to portraying the super spy. It just has to be the right story because so much time has passed. The last film starring Damon was “The Bourne Ultimatum” that was released in 2007. But, the film was suppose to take place right after the end of “The Bourne Supremacy” that came out in 2004.

“If we started writing a script today, it would be at least 2014 before we could get the film out. That means Jason Bourne has been in hiding for 10 years. It will take a really good story to explain that,” Damon says during an interview for his upcoming movie “Promised Land.”

Damon was so into the idea of trying to do another “Bourne” movie that he contacted Jonathan Nolan, who had worked on the recent “Batman” scripts, to see if he had any ideas. After a month of trying to come up with a feasible reason to bring the character back, Nolan gave up his efforts.

For now, it looks like Renner has a better shot at another film in the series than Damon.

Billy Crystal, his best movie by far is When Harry met Sally. That is one funny movie. I must see it again.

I’d be more interested in the “24″ movie and wondering how Jack Bauer is doing. Hiding from the Chinese, Russians, United States govt, and all of the Middle East would be a more exciting story to get an update too. Any inside info on 24 the movie?

Bethany Clough says:

I’d LOVE to see Matt Damon return as Jason Bourne. He is so good as that character.
