2. CHRISTMAS ON VAN NESS
Fresno Grand Opera’s annual holiday tradition is a classy way to ring in the season. The two concerts (3 and 6 p.m. Saturday) feature the Fresno Grand Opera Chorus, Bach Children’s Choir and soloists. And you get to experience them all in the beautiful acoustics of the First Congregational Church. [Details]
3. ENTER THE WORLD OF ‘THE ELEPHANT MAN’
Fresno State tackles the famous story of John Merrick in a production directed by J. Daniel Herring. The actor getting the juicy role is Dane Oliver. You can read Herring’s Q&A interview here. Opening night is tonight. [Details]
4. TAKE IN A CONCERT
There are a lot of them, many of them holiday-related, as I indicated above. A couple of picks: the Fresno Choral Artists’ “A World of Christmas” concert (4 p.m. Saturday, details here); Fresno State’s “Seasons Greetings” concert (2:30 p.m. Sunday, details here); and Fresno City College’s 2012 Holiday Choral Festival (details below).
5. DECEMBER’S A DRAG
International drag star Lady Bunny comes to the North Tower Circle 9 p.m. Saturday for her first Fresno appearance. [Details]
