The reason many of you may be having problems hearing KIOO (FM, 99.7) is that the Porterville classic rock radio station was knocked off the air when a delivery truck hit and destroyed the broadcast tower located on Lewis Hill. Momentum Broadcasting, local owners of KIOO, are trying to get a limited signal going.
There were no injuries as a result of the accident but the antenna was so badly damaged it had to be removed. A new tower will have to be erected and that will take some time.
Bill Lynch, KIOO general manager, says every effort is being made “to get this unfortunate situation rectified absolutely as quickly as possible. Momentum Broadcasting and the staff of KIOO, 99.7 Classic Rock, apologize to their listeners, and ask their understanding as they work through this unplanned and unfortunate situation.”
Momentum Broadcasting also owns KJUG (AM, 1270), KJUG (FM, 106.7) and KCRZ (FM, 104.9).
