ORIGINAL POST: How would you like to hear Renee Fleming, one of the most beloved opera singers in the world, sing live with the Fresno Grand Opera Orchestra? Now’s your chance. We’re giving away two ORCHESTRA seats to the most prestigious classical-music event of the year. Fleming performs 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Saroyan Theatre.
To enter, leave a comment below telling us why you want to hear Ms. Fleming sing. If you have a favorite opera role or album of hers, you can share that with readers. Don’t feel intimidated if you don’t know her repertoire — simply saying you want to hear her acclaimed voice is just fine. We’ll pick our winner at random.
These are great seats (Row Q center) that would normally go for $97.50 each, so this is quite the giveaway.
Deadline to enter is 10 a.m. Monday. These are paper tickets, so you’ll need to be able to pick them up at The Bee’s front counter by 5 p.m. Tuesday. We’ll notify the winner via e-mail, so please leave a valid e-mail address and please check it by 11 a.m. Monday. (We reserve the right to pick another winner if we don’t hear back from you.) My daughter is a vocal performance major at Fresno State and has had me watch/listen to every Renee Fleming performance she can find. I also love the story of how she came to be selected by the Met. What a great story of perseverance! I would love to see her live!

My daughter and I wanted to attend this performance but the ticket prices are out of our budget. Renee Flemming’s voice is a gift and to hear her sing live would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Why do I want to see her/them perform?
Because I need more of this heaven in my life – I just don’t spend enough time listening to the true masters like Renee Fleming.

I would love to hear Mrs. Fleming as well. I am voice student here in Fresno. Sometimes it can be really hard to follow your dreams but nothing could be more reassuring that someone can do it when you are listening to Renee sing live. Right in front of your eyes. I feel so alive when I am in front of someone how has made it.
I have been an opera buff for many years. I have only heard Ms. Fleming’s thrilling voice on CD, but would very much enjoy hearing her live!
I don’t pretend to be any sort of musical expert but many operatic sopranos sound harsh to me even though they are world renowned. Ms. Flemming is an exception. Her voice is one that I could listen to forever. Having the chance to hear her in person would certainly be one of the highlights of my life.

I saw my 1st opera performance at 9 ( Carmen) and fell in love with all the romantics. I adored Pavarotti, & never got to see him perform…and now along comes Fleming, a stunning voice emitting from a beautiful frame with great presence and emotion. What a pleasure it would be to see and hear her live! After several years now of struggle and hope, facing an economy and lifestyle that plummeted to earthly realms, I have an intense desire to float “on wings of song” above the fray, and after so long a time, to bathe in the pure joy that is classical music, and in particular, in a grand vocalist. At 75, and in this day, I think it is time for my beloved and I to share this experience. Thank you, and good luck to whomever your winner may be! Bernice

A few weeks ago I went to hear Jackie Evancho, who is blessed with the voice of an angel. Renee Feming has the voice of the Queen Angel. Simply an incredible talent!!!
I would love to surprise my wife with the tickets to hear Renee Fleming. Music was my wife’s minor at Fresno State. She sang coloratura soprano opera roles then and later when we were active in the original, now defunct,Fresno Opera Association.
Although I have not had the opportunity to hear her sing, I am always open to experience new cultural happenings here in town!
