We’re giving you a chance to hear Jackie Evancho live.
At age 11, Evancho is already a well-known name in American music. The young singer, who catapulted to fame on the TV show “America’s Got Talent” and whose top-rated PBS special drew millions of viewers, was ranked by Billboard magazine as the top Classical Albums Artist for 2011 for her album “Dream With Me.”
Because of her age, her handlers have been spare with her live appearances. Which makes it a big deal that Fresno Grand Opera landed a spot on her itinerary for a West Coast concert swing. She’ll sing Sunday at the Saroyan Theatre after performing earlier in the week in San Diego and Los Angeles.
We’re giving two tickets away to the 7:30 p.m. Sunday concert, which will feature Evancho singing such songs as “O Mio Babbino Caro” and “The Impossible Dream.” To enter, leave us a comment and tell us what you think of Evancho’s voice. You might include when you first heard her sing, or why you think she’s become such a cultural phenomenon.

Watching Jackie Evancho on PBS for the first time was like watching the blue Diva in The Fifth Element; you see an someone singing but the beautiful voice seems disconnected from the person singing. An 11 year old singing with a maturity associated with someone over twenty. Uncle Duke
When I first heard her on “America’s Got Talent”, I thought they must have had special microphones to enhance her voice. I was stunned to hear such a grown up voice come from an 11 year old girl. She definitely did a lot of practice to achieve such a voice.
We watched her on America’s Got Talent and fell in love with her singing.

I came to hear Jackie on A. G. T. I was in awe of her voice. I shared her vidio with my family. I have been a fan of classic music and I couldn’t believe that this young girl had developed such a a love for this music. Her discipline in following her dream is a great example for young people and adults. God has given her a talent that she has used to bring a cultural understanding about this form of art. The beauty of her voice can be only explained as God given. Thank you for this form to express my gratitude for this little blessing from God.

I first learned about her from my husband who called me from the kitchen…”hurry up, get out here, you are not gonna believe this!”, I was blown away…and didn’t believe that such a voice came from such a young girl.
I first heard Jackie Evancho perform on ch18. I stayed up pass midnight watching and listening to her sing. I was completely captivated by her voice, as we say in Spanish “tiene su don” meaning she has a special gift that is God sent.

First heard Miss. Jackie Evancho on Americans Got Talent. At her young age she has a voice of an older and seasoned performer what songs she has sung and at a high voice.

Jackie Evancho has one of the most breathtaking voices I’ve heard in a long time. I was first introduced to her music by my boyfriend, who was watching her on America’s Got Talent. I was amazed and told my mom to check out her music and she, in turn, showed my dad. She’s become such a family favorite.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get these tickets because they would make the best birthday gift to my mom–she badly wanted to go to this concert but the prices were too steep for us.
So glad that she’s making a stop in Fresno.

I have never seen this young girl perform since we don’t have television service by choice–too many other things to do! But I did hear her voice on KMJ recently on an advertisement for her show and could not believe that I was listening to an eleven year old. She is truly gifted and I would love to take my seven year old granddaughter, a budding violinist, to this show. I think it would make a very special memory!
I first heard her sing on American Idol before the finals and felt at that time she had a terrific voice for her age, when she placed second I felt that she should have won first place. Jackies voice is so great that its hard to belive that its coming from some one so young and so small.
My voice teacher is going to hate me for this but I just LOVE her voice. I first heard her through iTunes when her album came out because I’m just not into reality shows so I never heard her on America’s Got Talent.

I was taken aback the first time I heard Jackie’s other-worldly singing voice. Her grounded, joyful personality is equally engaging. She is an uplifting and inspiring young person.
I totally loved Jackie Evancho when I first saw her compete on America’s Got Talent. It seemed surreal that someone so young could sing so beautifully. It was apparent that Jackie would become a phenomenon. I love the fact that she is coming to Fresno on such a special day in my life, February 26th, my 40th baptism anniversary date. Singing has been my own passion all my life, and it would be such a privilege to see Jackie in person. She has a most beautiful spirit, and I pray for her to continue to share with the world this wonderful talent that God has given her. I pray for her parents and family that God will give them wisdom in every action that is taken on her behalf. I love the fact that she also represents a beautiful example to other young aspiring singers. In grade school there was a classmate who also had a fabulous singing voice and I often wonder what has happened to her, if she is still singing. Her name is Anna Tunks, and had a brother named Gary Tunks who I had a crush on.

I have only heard her on TV. I wasn’t watching TV at the time, but came into the room to see who was performing. Her voice is incredible and the fact that she is a child causes you to realize that she is truly natural and exceptional. I think we all like to see someone be successful and it surprises us that Jackie can achieve so much as such a tender age.

My husband and I first saw and heard Jackie Evancho perform on “America’s Got Talent.” It was electrifying to see and then hear this angelic, singing wonder, performing as one whose voice did not match her diminutive body. She is indeed a once in a lifetime phenomenon!
Jackie is a sensation. Out of all the performances I have seen of her I have yet to see her make a mistake. Is always pitch perfect. The main reason why I like her is because she truly enjoys what she does; she truly enjoys her craft, her gift, and she stays very modest while doing it. The way she uses her gift and modesty is something that quite a few professionals 2 and even 3 times her age could use.
I love to run. I also love listening to music that inspires me to go faster, longer, and farther. I remember clearly the first time I heard Jackie Evancho singing on America’s Got Talent. I was completely in disbelief that this little girl was really singing so beautifully. I cried as chills ran down my back. Listening to her is so inspiring. I would love to hear her sing “The Impossible Dream” live! =)

The first time I heard Jackie sing, I was at my sister’s house visiting. I recall being totally mesmerized by her voice. It was like hearing an Angel sing for the very first time. My sister was talking to me but I didn’t hear a thing she said I couldn’t take my eyes off the T.V. At some point my sister gave up and in the back of my mind I could hear her say “ that is Jackie probably the most special and talented girl in the world�. My thought on why she has become such a cultural phenomenon is because she has that trifecta that all artists wish they had- a God given voice, a natural beauty and a persona very few possess. It is due to these attributes that she attracts all ages and cultures to her presence. Since that day I try to catch glimpses of her singing whenever I can. I wish I could afford to see her here in Fresno but I lost my job six months ago and I struggle to provide for my family everyday. But if I could I would love to see her perform. I feel it would be a life changing experience.

The first time my wife and I saw little that dainty little girl take the stage was on a national television show. She joyously began to sing and our conversation abruptly ended. About one half of the way through her song, I looked over at my wife through tears to see her wiping her own tears of joy.
Angelic and fearless are two words we use to describe Jackie’s voice. And, we are confident an it is with great anticipation we look forward to seeing her continued growth and success well into her adult life.

I heard Ms. Evancho last yr on a T.V.in concert. I would have never thought we would have the opportunity of her coming to Fresno.
Her voice is amazing, almost memorizing, if there is such a word. When i first heard her, the songs she sung and the way she expresses herself with her voice and gestures, they touched my heart, as well as others am sure. I first heard her sing on Oprah. Her presence is amazing for someone her age. She has moved us because she is a nice young untainted girl with the voice of an angel. She reminds me of myself when I was her age.
I remember the first time I heard Jackie perform. It was on a PBS special, and like many others, I didn’t believe this young girl was capable of producing that quality and volume of sound! In these days of lip synching, airbrushing, and photo shopping, we’ve become accustomed to falsity. I think Jackie appeals to a broad sensibility because she embodies something pure, true, and genuine that our jaded society needs to hear and believe in again.
My adopted mom is 93 and she loves Jackie’s voice. I would like to take her to this show.

I first saw Jackie on America’s Got Talent and have been mesmerized ever since. The only reason I think she didn’t win on AGT was because of young age. It certainly wasn’t for lack of talent! I’ve watched her several times on PBS with David Foster. She is extremely talented and is also very modest and humble. She is truly a beautiful little angel on earth and I get chills every time I watch her perform. Her talent is truly amazing for anyone of any age. Her poise is unbelievable and I wish more adults could perform as well as she does while being as humble as can be! I would love to be able to see her this Sunday.
When we saw Jackie Evancho for the first time on America’s Got Talent we were so surprised to hear such an amazing voice from such a little girl. The judges of the show had the same reaction. We would look forward to Tuesday nights because we knew Jackie was going to perform. I don’t recall the actual song she sang that night but when I closed my eyes to listen it was almost like hearing something angelic in her voice. She is truly a talented young lady.

I’m actually trying to win tickets for my girl (Suzy) and her mom (Fran) who watched the show on PBS and were just blown away by the voice coming out of the little girl on the screen. Fran is 88 years old, so when she gets that caught up in a voice, I have to figure that at her age she has heard a voice or two in her time and this young lady has something special going on. She doesn’t get around so well and so she doesn’t get out much, but I think she would really enjoy the chance to go see the show sunday night.
My wife and son watched her on America’s Got Talent and thought she was amazing. My wife just had a heart attack and has struggled with heart disease and diabetes for years. This would be a wonderful opportunity for them to spend a special memorable evening together.

My granddaughter is visiting me this week from out of town. She will be 11 in about 3 weeks so she can really relate to Jackie. My granddaughter plays the piano so she knows the discipline and practicing that is required. I would love to be able to take her to the concert before she leaves this weekend. I watched little miss Jackie on AGT from day one. She sings like an angel and I would love to take my twelve year old son on a special date night to go see her perform her magic.

Jackie was such a blessing to hear and see on AGT. Especially since I was a singer and was picked to sing a solo in 8th grade (Silent Night), then had voice lessons in college. But, as an 11 year old, I can’t believe how well Jackie can sing – I still can’t sing that well aven after all my lessons and practice! Would love to have free tickets as Sunday is our 57th wedding anniversary and to hear and see Jackie in person would be amazing!

Jackie has a voice of what I imagine an angle would sound like. She is so sweet and innocent both of which sadly our world is lacking these days, so it was very refreshing to see someone so beautiful inside and out catch our eye on AGT. I also recorded her channel 18 performance, which my family and I watch often. We love Jackie!

The 1st time i heard Jackie Evancho was on PBS, i have never been to an opera, and am amazed that she is coming to Fresno. Something about her expressions, how much she puts emphasis in her singing, whether it be her hand movements or her angelic face, can bring some of us to tears. The fact that she is 11 yrs old and can memorize her audience with her beautiful voice is astounding. I would love the opportunity to win these tickets and thank you for the opportunity.

Jackie has the voice of an angel and the angelic look, style, and personality to match. When you hear her sing, you think it must be coming from an adult. The first time I heard this little 11 year old sing was the PBS special. I could not believe what I was hearing, not from an 11 year old. Where was this voice so pure, so innocent, so powerfull and yet sang with such effortlessness coming from? The only answer I could come up with is that she was an angel sent from the heavens above to share her angelic voice with us below. I don’t know who won America’s Got Talent, but if it was not her then someone should have there hearing checked! My mom has Terminal Esphogeal Cancer with only a few months left. Hospice is there now. We asked her if there was any place she would like to go. She responded that she would like to go to Heaven. I would love to take her to hear this blessed little angel. I think she is the closest to Heaven on Earth you could get. I would love to share a little piece of Heaven with her before she is gone. Thank You, for sharing her beautiful gift with us.
