Win tickets to Fresno Grand Opera’s ‘Carmen’

2011-carmen-lead-art.jpg

UPDATE: Our winners are Ezequiel Gutierrez and Charmaine George. Congratulations!

ORIGINAL POST: Here’s a premium Beehive giveaway for you: I have TWO pairs of tickets to give away to this weekend’s production of Fresno Grand Opera’s “Carmen.”

From the opera:

Bizet’s romantic thriller about a soldier’s ill-fated obsession with the ultimate femme fatale is arguably the world’s most popular opera. Featuring brilliant orchestration, an unrivaled procession of hit tunes, and a stage full of gypsies, smugglers and toreadors, Carmen packs all the sizzle of Spanish culture into an irresistible theatrical event.

One pair of tickets is for opening night, which is 8 p.m. Friday at the Saroyan Theatre. The other pair is for the Sunday matinee, which is 2 p.m. Jan. 29. These are very nice seats that go for $89.50 each.

To enter, leave a comment on this post telling us whether you’d like to attend the Friday performance, the Sunday performance, or either. These are paper tickets, so you’ll need to be able to come down to The Bee’s front lobby by 5 p.m. Friday to pick them up.

Deadline is 10 a.m. Wednesday.

I’ll notify the winner via e-mail — so please leave a real e-mail address and please check it. Duplicate entries are not allowed. I reserve the right to pick another winner if you haven’t responded to a notification email in a timely manner. You’re ineligible if you’ve won anything from the Beehive in the past 30 days. Full rules on the jump.

Only readers who submit a comment on this post are eligible. The winner will be picked at random. Recipients will be notified by e-mail at the end of each giveaway period. No substitutions or transfer of winners/prizes. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Some prizes may have due dates for redemption/use. Employees and immediate family of The Fresno Bee, fresnobee.com and any/all of the participating giveaway sponsors, are not eligible to win. By accepting a giveaway, recipient consents to allow the use of his/her name and/or photograph for advertising or similar promotions without further compensation. Winner releases all sponsors of liability regarding use and enjoyment of the prizes. Tax liabilities and insurance, if any, are sole responsibility of the winner. No purchase necessary to win.

The Sunday performance!!!! I want to see it so bad :)

Diego Gutierrez Monterrubio says:

Carmen…the passion is so strong that you must live it…and dance to it. My mother plays the soundtrack when is she feels it and remembers dancing as a little girl is a spanish play in Mexico. Her photograph of a Spanish Flamenco dancer is a family gem. I would love to be able to take her to see this spectacular performance and watch her eyes reminisce of her childhood dream to become a dancer. Thank you.
