Win tickets to ‘The Nutcracker’
Here’s the post-Thanksgiving ticket freebie you’ve been waiting for: I have two tickets to give away to the Saturday 1 p.m. matinee performance of “The Nutcracker” at the Saroyan Theatre. This Fresno Ballet Theatre production, presented by the non-profit Valley Performing Arts Council, features 30 professional members of the Sacramento Ballet, more than 100 local dancers and accompaniment by the Fresno Grand Opera orchestra. It’ll be the first time since 2007 that a local “Nutcracker” production will be accompanied by live music.
To enter, leave a comment telling us what your favorite moment in “The Nutcracker” is — or why you’d like to see it for the first time. I’ll pick the winner at random. These are paper tickets, so you’ll need to be able to come down to The Bee’s front lobby by 5 p.m. Wednesday to pick them up. (The lobby is closed Thursday and Friday.)
Deadline is 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
I’ll notify the winner via e-mail — so please leave a real e-mail address and please check it. Duplicate entries are not allowed. You’re ineligible if you’ve won anything from the Beehive in the past 30 days. Full rules on the jump.
Only readers who submit a comment on this post are eligible. The winner will be picked at random. Recipients will be notified by e-mail at the end of each giveaway period. No substitutions or transfer of winners/prizes. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Some prizes may have due dates for redemption/use. Employees and immediate family of The Fresno Bee, fresnobee.com and any/all of the participating giveaway sponsors, are not eligible to win. By accepting a giveaway, recipient consents to allow the use of his/her name and/or photograph for advertising or similar promotions without further compensation. Winner releases all sponsors of liability regarding use and enjoyment of the prizes. Tax liabilities and insurance, if any, are sole responsibility of the winner. No purchase necessary to win.

I’ve grown up playing music from the Nutcracker in band but have never actually SEEN it!
Unfortunately, I don’t have a favorite moment as I’ve never had the chance to experience The Nutcracker before. Every year, my wife and I swear we’re going to go see it, but something always seems get in the way. Finally seeing it this year would be an awesome Christmas treat for us both!
Oh dear! I would love to win these! Budget is so tight this year that I wasn’t planning on going just for that reason.
I used to be a classical dancer when I was younger and I really love the Nutcracker. I don’t think I can have a favorite part because there are so many different versions of the ballet and so many great dances. My favorite version however, is the Northwest Ballet’s film version. I used to watch it every year as a child when it came on PBS.
I would love to see this live. I saw it when I was little but it would be great to see it with fresh eyes. My favorite part is the Sugar Plum Fairy.
My favorite part is when the bakers open the oven and the gingerbread man is alive. I won’t lie I remember it because the only time I have seen The Nutcracker a student of mine at the time was one of the bakers.
I was lucky enough to see the Nutcracker once, many years ago. My biggest surprise was when the little children popped out from under the HUGE skirt of an adult dancer!
I’ve seen The Nutcracker performed by many different companies but never in Fresno by the Sacramento Ballet. My boyfriend’s never seen it live before and I would love for us to this holiday season.
I’ve never seen the Nutcracker, but my wife used to dance. I know she would love to go.
My favorite is the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The music is so classic, and the choreography always is terrific.
I have never seen this live; would love to!
favorite moment …. sugar plum fairy !!!!
The growing Christmas Tree, of course!
I’ve never seen the play live and I know my daughter would love to see it:)
I have never seen this play…but have seen glimpses online etc…I would love to see it live!!!
I have NEVER had the chance to catch The Nutcracker and would love to change that very sad fact in the near future!
Never seen it but love the strain of music that everyone seems to know and relate to Christmas. I think it’s when the fairies make their appearance on stage but am not sure at all.
I’ve never seen The Nutcracker, but I’d love to win for my six year old daughter. Thanks!
Aw, I’ve always wanted to see this for my birthday, but I’m too late aren’t I?!
I have never seen this ballet and neither has my daughter and I would love to be able to see it with her this year for the first time.
I have never seen a live performance of the Nutcracker and I would love to win tickets to take my partner to see this. It is his life dream to watch the Nutcracker. It would be perfect to take him this holiday season.
