More than 400 people packed The Cellar Door on Monday night to see New York indie band Vampire Weekend. It was a show that sold out in minutes.

Vampire Weekend mixed songs from its 2008 self-titled debut and its upcoming sophomore release, "Contra." The set was about 60% old material and 40% new. The band members were pretty tame on stage -- a definite contrast to the Cage the Elephant show on Sunday night -- but they sounded good and worked up a good rapport with the crowd. Opening act The Growlers did a good job of winning over the crowd too.

Now here are some videos:

Day Three of our awesome concert trifecta is tonight in downtown Visalia, where Vampire Weekend is playing The Cellar Door. Sorry to inform you all that the tickets are long gone. So if you don't already have them, we're sorry -- but we did warn ya. It should be a great show, these guys' music is so catchy and I'm guessing it's going to translate into a fun show. I'll do my best to come back to Fresno with some video/pics for you guys.

Below you'll find some other stuff to do tonight, plus all the happenings for the week ahead. Enjoy:

When you're not eating deep-fried fair food ...

1. GET A MONSTER MULLET
Have your heard? The Fresno Monsters -- our new upstart hockey team -- are 7-0. They're also in town this weekend. Tonight, they take a page out of the Grizzlies playbook, with a zany promo. It's mullet night and if you have a mullet (real or fake) you get in for $5.

Vampire Weekend, one of the hottest indie rock bands of 2008, will play The Cellar Door in Visalia on Nov. 9.

Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday via TicketWeb and cost $20.

Promoter Aaron Gomes of Sound N Vision -- who deserves another pat on the back for landing this -- expects tickets to sell real fast.

"This'll sell out in less than five minutes," he says. "I've been told that there are some very special surprises lined up."

A note for Vampire Weekend fans: The band debuted a new track, titled "Horchata," today on their site. The band's sophomore album, "Contra," is due in January.

That first part of November is looking nice concert-wise: Little Dragon is coming back on Nov. 5. Jay-Z is Nov. 7. And now this on Nov. 9.

About 250 people filled Visalia's Cellar Door on Wednesday night to see Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan play an intimate show.

Corgan's set was broken up into three parts: A folksy opening with Spirits in the Sky, the band he assembled for this six-city tour. An acoustic middle where most of the band left the stage. And an electric ending, where he was joined on guitar by Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Here are some videos from the show:

If you don't already have tickets for the Billy Corgan/Dave Navarro show at Visalia's Cellar Door, you're out of luck in that department. But can you head down to Visalia for another great show -- UK indie pop group Los Campesinos!, who are playing to the all-ages crowd at Howie & Son's before hitting Outside Lands this weekend.

If you're a Fresno hipster not wanting to make the drive, then you should head over to Audie's Olympic, where The Boxing Lesson is making a tour stop and playing with The Sleepover Disaster and Rademacher (according to everything but Rademacher's MySpace, so we'll see). 9:30 p.m. $6.

It's a busy week for music around these parts -- no place is busier than Visalia, where promoter Aaron Gomes has once again showed us why he needs to be cloned and put to work in other cities. Starting with Fresno.

In addition to the Billy Corgan show on Wednesday, Gomes' Sound-N-Vision Foundation also has dates lined up with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (Tues.), Los Campesinos! (Wed.), Sleepy Sun (Thurs. at Cellar Door), Paz (Fri.) and Matt & Kim (Sat. at Howie & Son's). Now here are some graphics on a few of those:

UPDATE: Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has been added to the bill, and the show has now been moved to the Cellar Door, meaning 150 more tickets are available starting at noon today. Which is now. So get on it, or forever be filled with Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness.

ORIGINAL: Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan will play a solo show on Aug. 26 at Visalia's Tazzaria Coffee and Tea as part of a six-city tour of intimate venues.

If you want to see him, you've got to act quick. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday through ticketweb.com and cost $30. Capacity at the venue is 75 people.

Corgan requested to play in either a coffee shop or a bookstore that would hold 75-100 people, says concert promoter Aaron Gomes of Visalia's Sound N Vision Foundation.

Corgan will play with Spirits in the Sky, a band he gathered earlier this year and which features new Smashing Pumpkins drummer Mike Byrne.

Holy Han Solo! A Visalia house that's on the market for $364,900 comes with more than a swimming pool and a place to park your RV. It also has a starfighter capable of destroying enemies from the Empire. In your dreams, that is.

One of the bedrooms of the Southeast Visalia home is awesomely "Star Wars"-inspired, with a bed shaped like a Rebel Alliance Y-Wing fighter jet ...That hangs from the ceiling!!

You can see more pictures here, then start pretending your last name is Skywalker and you're on a mission to blow up the Death Star before you fall asleep in your Jedi jammies.
