May the Force be with you on this day that’s considered a holiday by mFilm-Star Wars-Celebrationany fans of the “Star Wars” franchise. A few years ago, fans began to greet each other with the phrase “May the Fourth Be With You.”

Because this has become such a special day for “Star Wars” fans, the Fresno Bee has decided to use May 4 as the launch day for our countdown to the opening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” scheduled to be released Dec. 18.

That’s 228 days from now.

This starts the countdown that will include interviews, trivia, photos, videos, surveys and anything connected to the franchise. All breaking news about the film or other “Star Wars” projects will be part of this countdown.

The countdown is designed for anyone who has ever used a broomstick as a lightsaber or has dressed as one of the characters for Halloween.

I’m looking for your photos showing of costumes, toys, collections, etc. You can share your memories of seeing the films. This is also a place to rant about whether the Ewoks or Jar Jar Binks was the worse “Star Wars” character. All you have to do is leave a comment and your story or photo could be used as part of the countdown.

Actually, the odds are high of your items getting used as I have 227 more countdown days to fill.

If you prefer, e-mail me your photo or story to rbentley@fresnobee.com.

If you share this countdown, be sure to add #starwarscountdown, #TheForceAwakens, #StarWars7 #DaysTilStarWars #StarWars and #Coundown.

May the Force (and Fourth) be with you. The clock has started.
