It’s the little things about rain that make me smile: The lights I have to turn on in the hallway in the morning because it’s darker outside. The slosh under my shoes as I walk from the parking lot into work. The brisk, tangy smell in the air. The comforting patter of water splattering against my window screens.
That last one is one of my favorites — so I snapped a photo of the view out my bedroom window this morning. (In case I never see it again.) I love the way the water smudges the view into impressionistic territory, replacing bone-dry realism with a gentle, diffuse vista. After weeks of hazy blue, gray is mighty fine.
Best news: The air-quality forecast for today: 68. (It’s been in the 150s in recent weeks.)
Send me rain/wet photos from your day today, no matter how mundane. I will post and revel in them.
UPDATE: Beehiver Kathy shares a beautiful window photo after the jump.
And here’s a great shot from Bee photographer John Walker:
Beehive reader Martha Brody, who plays viola in the Fresno Philharmonic, offers this view of her backyard. She can look back on it this summer when it’s 110 and she’s in the pool:
