One of my favorite features in The Bee each week is Word on the Street, which highlights new businesses of all sorts.
This week's installment proved the "of all sorts" when you got to the second item. It's about Dr. Nit Wit, a lice removal salon.
Let's all just tuck this one away in our internal "The More You Know" file. From this week's Word:
Dr. Nit Wit, a new business that rids its customers of head lice, has opened in north Fresno. The salon, at 90 E. Magill Ave., Suite 101, is near Blackstone and Herndon avenues.
Owner Steven Landis got the idea for the business after working at the former Craycroft Youth Center, where he saw lots of children with lice. After checking out similar salons in Oakland and Southern California, Landis decided Fresno needed one.His treatments cost about $100. They include using a patented comb to remove lice and their eggs, which are called nits. The hair is treated and then combed through again. The kid-friendly business, which also serves adults, has TVs so kids can watch cartoons and a wireless connection so parents can entertain themselves.

You know Fresno sucks when this is newsworthy.
