It's the last week of the year, a perfect time for The Beehive to look back at our favorite moments of 2010.
We've already picked our favorite events, local additions and releases of the year. Now we're moving onto juicy stuff. What was your favorite controversy of the year? For us, they're, admittedly, Beehive-centric. We're a hub for that sort of thing. But yours can be anything -- a celebrity scandal, a divisive news story, etc.
Check out our picks, then leave your own in the comments.
KATHY: Boobies! All the hubbub about kids wearing "I ♥ boobies" bracelets at local schools created some of the best chatter of the year.
DONALD: My favorite controversy? The silly skirmish that erupted when I wrote a short post about a guy in an SUV leaving his car on when he dashed into the Fig Garden Village Jamba Juice. There were more significant (and serious) controversies of the year, certainly, but this one became a bizarre face-off between those who care about the air we breathe and those who mocked the extent that one person can make a different when it comes to the environment.
JOAN: I second Donald's pick. "Silly" is the perfect word for that "controversy."
MIKE OZ: For me, there is only one answer: Fresno Magazine vs The Beehive. Or maybe that should be the mag's editor Melanie Warner vs. Beehive commenters. As you surely remember, she swung by the site, made a swipe at our "cheap" readers and all hell broke loose in the comment section. I gave a very close second to everything involving Rick Mirigian.
HEATHER: My favorite controversy is whatever content is currently posted on FresnoBee.com. From the site's regular commenters I've learned that, no matter how small the story, it's best to state your opinion on the matter in as loud or sarcastic a tone as possible (ALL CAPS HELPS), then preemptively scattershot insults at anyone who might come along and disagree -- liberals, conservatives, liberals, and those damn liberals.
YOUR TURN: What had you gossiping this year? Tell us your favorite controversy.

I'm going with the Buttdrag. There's nothing quite controversial than a high school senior engaging in a wrestling move that winds him up suspended facing a lawsuit.
My favorite were the posts on RGM. Those were hilarious and a great read.
I'm going with the Bullard students who cut down the tree. I get that it was stupid, vandalism, and stupid, but it was a tree. Fresnobee.com (Heather's favorite commentors) made it seem like they had killed a baby or two.
Having said that, I only picked it cuz I can't bear to bring up RGM's name in print anymore, for fear he'll comment - just so much bad grammar and spelling and ALL CAPS I can bear.

Must correct....the students were from Central High in the Central Unified School District(not Bullard,or FUSD)
My 'favorite controversy' was the Fresno Magazine/Melanie Warner(Editor)
brouhaha---
I still can't fathom why someone who has such a position, publishes a Fresno-centric publication; would take, let alone VOICE, such a dim view of
the reading public, in such a public way!
Astoundingly stupid.
RGM. Definitely RGM.
