Absolutely loved the movie! I saw a Newsweek article on-line yesterday which said this movie was boring. After attending the screening last night, I can tell you wholeheartedly the article was wrong! I jumped in my seat at least three times due to suprising scenes. The acting was great and while some scenes were dark and foreboding, others were light and funny. The movie seems true to the book and I can't wait for Part Two! Rick, will you offer more opportunities to win tickets to the next one!?!?!?

I saw the screening on Monday (thanks Beehive!) -- and I really like it.
I was a bit concerned how they would translate the first half of the book into movie because in the book that part doesn't have a lot of 'action' sequence, as the last half. But, it comes out really nice and I especially love the animated story of the three brothers. That was lovely!
I think Ron was brilliant in giving comedic relief on so many scenes that would get too somber otherwise -- Would have loved to see more though, especially @ Godric's Hollow's scenes. But,I think the ending is great, it's more 'to-be-continue-y' without being too cliffhanger-y.

Loved it! The animated bit explaining the Deathly Hallows was especially cool.

The movie was amazing! It has been so wonderful to watch the characters grow over the films, and this one was no exception. If you haven't bought a ticket already then you need to! Thanks so much to the Fresno Bee for sponsoring such a great event!

The movie was absolutely great! Better than what I expected!
Thanks Fresno Beehive!!

The movie was great! I agree with previous comments that the animated story of the Deathly Hallows was done really well and a highlight of the movie. The transformation of the ministry and the imagery used throughout were also highlights. The characters and relationships are still strong and it feels like visiting old friends. The Beehive trivia questions had me worried that I should have re-read the book, but I was ok. I can't wait to see the grand finale! Thanks again for the tickets, it made our Monday/week so much better.

It was a great movie - loved it. Can't wait for part 2!!!

Great movie. Can't wait to take the kids this weekend. This one was lighter than I expected, as the darker parts happen later in book 7. Loved the ending. Can't wait for part 2. Thanks beehive for the sneak peek!

I just loved it. I am amazed on how some scenes were way better than the book. The actors did an amazing job with bringing so much emotions to certain scenes. I didn't expect how beautiful the last few scenes were. Can't wait to see it again!!

I was just as excited as my grandchildren that we had the chance to see the movie a little ahead of schedule. This has no direct reference to the movie itself, but it was wonderful to attend with people who wanted to watch the movie without interruptions from cell phones and crying children and talk talk talk. Okay, off my soapbox and off to the movie! I had not recently read the book or listened to the audiotape, so in some respects it was almost new material for me. The visuals were awesome, for example, when Nagini is invited to dine on the remains of Charity Burbage, or the various times when death-eaters wreaked havoc and destruction on various venues. I really enjoyed seeing the wild ride of the Harry Potters, especially Harry and Hagrid. There was a lot of humor, even in the midst of the darkness. Our heroes are growing up and are now young men and women. It is always fascinating to go back to the older movies to watch them change. I thought the movie ended at a perfect spot. We can't wait for the next and, sadly, last episode!

I thought the movie did a good job of converting the first half of the book into a film. The long, drawn-out "camping" chapters of the book seemed to convey the building sense of hopelessness, boredom & questioning the characters experienced. Reading some of that was hard to plow through but I, too, did experience some of the characters' emotions as a result. The film alluded to those same discouraging emotions, too, but in a faster-paced way.

I saw it at the Clovis screening. The movie was great. Loved it. It was funny, sad, dramatic, and it had action. I loved Dobby for saving his friends and hated Bellatrix for what she did to him. I think the scene of the Deadly Hallows' story was done brilliantly. Loved how they did it. Even though HP7 Pt. 1 is over two hours long, it seem shorter to me. I can't wait for the next part.

Wow! I was soo happy walking out of the theater last night because they finally remained true to the book (which I think because they had more time with the two movies) I have walked out disapointed every single time I have seen a Harry Potter movie! But it was so great this time! I am sooo excited to see part 2! Thanks beehive!

The movie was great! I think they did a great job with the animated scene about the deathly hallows. It definitely was not what I was expecting! I think my favorite part about the movie was the acting. Daniel, Emma and Rupert have definitely grown into grade A actors. Thank you beehive for this awesome experience!

I saw this movie last night, and it was so AWESOME! Seriously, it's all I have been thinking about all day long. I definitely cried when Dobby died and overall, I was VERY happy with the movie. I read the book over the weekend and they followed it very well, which was good. I was amazed that even with 2 1/2 hours they still cut some stuff out! I'm really glad I got this opportunity and it was a really good experience. Everyone was really friendly! THANKS Fresno Bee!

I was absolutely thrilled when my friend asked me to accompany her to the movie on Monday when I didn't win any tickets myself. I thought the movie was fantastic. It's incredible to watch the transformation of the different Harry Potter movies. Let's just say my little brother will not be seeing this in the theater! I was pleased with how, overall, the movie stayed with the book adding only a couple of additional scenes. However I was disappointed in some of the scenes that were left out, such as Harry's goodbye to his family, Kreacher's Tale, and Harry and Lupin's quarrel. I was relieved that the kept in, and added humor, because without it Harry Potter would be an extremely dark movie. I loved the actors, characters(except Umbridge, she just makes my skin crawl), and everything about the movie. Except Dobby's death, that was just too sad. :(
I can't wait for the second part to be released!

I was one of the lucky winners who saw the advance screening Monday night courtesy of Fresnobeehive.com/Rick Bentley--thanks again! While I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter movies, I only actually read the first book...so I had no idea what to expect from this 7th installment. After all was said and done, I was not disappointed and give the movie 2 thumbs up! I feel each movie has become progressively darker and serious than the one before...and this one was no exception! Although the movie moved at a much slower pace than its predecessors...I feel the storyline was important, and have no doubt it will lead to an explosive finale in part 2!

I liked this movie so much!!! I've seen all the movies so far
I think the Harry potter movies has gotten much better from
When it started ^_^ can't way to see the next part

Well I liked the movie and I know that this is only half of it but I didn't love the movie as much as the rest of the Harry Potter. Probably because it’s not finished. I just can't wait for part 2 to come out. I know that once this Part 2 comes out I will love the whole movie!! I will go watch HP 7 Part 1 again most likely this weekend! This is a must see movie!!

Had a great time last night. The show was great. The special effect were really good. I think this is the best one they have made. Making it a two parter gave them so much more to work with of course. It was nice to have the special tickets and get to go before others. You and the rest of the Bee people were very enthusiastic and kept the audience busy while waiting for the show. Good job to you all and again loved the movie. Hope to be able to do this again sometime.

The movie was excellent. The BeeHive staff on-hand were great and very helpful. My movie experience was certainly enhanced by the girl sitting next to me who jumped nearly out of her skin every time a particular spell was cast in the movie.
Thank you to the BeeHive for doing this for us.
You guys rock!

Mind blowing!!! This movie was amazing! It was definitely truest to the book out of all of its predecessors. I don't think it could have been much better. I think everything just clicked this time, they did everything right. I am so happy that I got the opportunity to see this movie before it came out. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. All day people have been asking me, "So how was it?" Others said, "Don't tell me anything!" I loved all of the emotion in this film. It really made me feel like I was the one being tortured or losing friends. I felt that they balanced the humor perfectly with the darkness. It made you feel like you had just seen a happy movie, instead of a possibly depressing movie. One of my favorite lines was after Ron came back and he asked Harry, "How long do you think she will stay mad at me?" and Harry replied,"Just keep talking about that fuzzy ball of light going into your chest." I thought that was so funny! There were so many ways for them to go with this movie, and I am glad they did it like the book. The actors are so talented. I especially loved Xenophilius Lovegood. He was fantastic! He was so much better than I had imagined. Yes of course there are parts that I didn't like, but those parts helped me like the entire film as a whole. The parts that I didn't like were the parts that were hardest for me to watch, like Hermione being tortured and Bathilda turning into a snake. I actually like these parts in the book, but the images were so vivid it just made it a harsh reality, and it was hard to watch. Once again thanks for the opportunity, me and my friends had a great time, and I hope to see this movie several more times, so I can dissect it with a clear head. I admit I was having a fan attack in the back row. If I see it again, I feel that I will take more in. I can't wait for Part II! Thank you Fresno Bee! One word: Epic...

First off, thank you Beehive for allowing your fans to join you for one of the most anticipated movies this year. It was great to watch the movie with a group of proud fans.
As for the movie: It is hard watching something knowing you will have to wait more than half a year for it's second part. Although the first half of the book isn't as exciting as the second half, I feel like many scenes were rushed through. I must add that I am a fan of the books and have read the 7th installment a couple of times, but I feel like a movie adapted from a novel has to understand that a movie is not a book. They could have, for the sake of a great movie, extended some of the action sequences such as the one at the Malfoy residence where Dobby makes his last stand, especially because it was the climax of this movie. There is a large population of Harry Potter fans, some of which may not have read the book, who may have felt like Part 1 of The Deathly Hallows is slow or even boring. A fan of the Harry Potter books may enjoy that a movie stood true to the book, but also needs to understand that this movie wasn't made for fans of the book, it was made to earn a profit, and while it'll most likely succeed considering over 2000 screens are already sold out, many fans of the movies alone will leave disappointed with no knowledge of what's to come in part 2, and may not return.

I have seen the other movies with my kids and I like this one the most. Granted it is not as playful and humorous as the previous movies but the viewer gets to see a side of the characters that I believe was never shown. A very introspective view of them. They are no longer the school children rather the young adult’s saviors of their world. I enjoyed the fact that there were not many action sequences and more dialog. Now I look forward to the conclusion
Thank you to the Beehive for the tickets, my daughters could not say enough about how much they loved the movie. The fans are going to love the movie and will want to see the finale

Quite possibly the best of the series thus far! Beautifully filmed, FINALLY allowing character development to happen the way it should - they should have started doing the movies in two parts back with Goblet of Fire - personal opinion. Kinda felt the ending just happened - a tad anti-climactic, but it's a good build for part 2, which I HATE is in July of next year!! Loved the telling of the Deathly Hallows (Was that General Grievous from Star Wars as Death) and I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the jab at Twilight - brilliant move on the HP part!

I missed the Twilight reference. Please enlighten me.

This installment of the Harry Potter series was a great adaptation from the novel. It's definitely a quest movie, so those expecting a quick, resolved adventure may be surprised, but not dissappointed. Overall, the acting by the whole cast was great as were the settings and effects.
Thanks Beehive!

First of all thank you beehive for the harry potter and the deathly hallows premiere this past november 15, 2010 at the manchester stadium! Felt like I was home!
Really enjoyed winning a key chain and having other harry potter fans enjoying the movie with me. (loved the prizes)
As a double major in spanish and english I have to say I love the way the movie was directed. It really captures the essential human aspects the book portrays with the injustice toward magical creatures and different people like the muggle born hermione granger. There is no doubt that this movie as well as the second part will be a hit like fadango says because like the hit series of JK's books the movies are a reflection of them.
I like the fact that the movie kept me on the edge of my seat through the whole movie. The time went by so fast but the ending was very satisfactory (won't rUin the end so I'm not going to say how it finishes lol).
Again thank you beehive, I've always enjoyed seeing these movies when they premiere. Totally worth the while!
After praising the movies of my favorite author I wait to win the prize the beehive will have lol
Nevertheless, I can't stress enough how much harry potter movies seem to give Me adrenaline when I watch them and now I can't wait for the deathly hallows part two :D

Thank You!

I enjoyed the movie but was a little disapointed by a few things left out such as Dudley's goodbye. I felt that in the book it gave Harry and Dudley much needed closure. I also wish that there would have been more Grimmwauld Place. They quickly glossed over many aspects that rounded out the story. The Deadly Hallows expalanation was very well done. The camping scenes conveyed the hopelessness Harry felt. It was filmed well which gave depth to the film. Dobby was exactly what I thought he was when I read the book, a true Braveheart.

I thought the film was amazing! Yes, it WAS boring in parts, but I'm pretty sure that was the idea!! The despair of their months waiting with uncertainty would not be felt any other way. It's a dark film for certain, but as usual Ron carries in a bit of greatly-appreciated awkward humor. I loved the development of Dobby, and his stand when asked how he dare disobey his masters and couldn't help think how Hermione would have been proud to see it were she not being so hauntingly tortured upstairs! Like others, I also loved the animation sequence which helped to relay the story of the three brothers and the deathly hallows. It was stylistically refreshing in the middle of everything else. I DID miss the absence of Dudley's almost-thanking of Harry, but I guess I can see how they felt the need to move on. It also would have been nice if they explained the mirror shard for those who haven't read the book. The scene of Ron's vision with the horcrux was quite creepy as well, honestly and didn't expect to see a CG-looking Harry and Hermione snogging nude beneath dark vapors. All in all, not something I'd recommend for small children, but die-hard fans and those who have matured with the books will definitely appreciate it.

Thank you for the opportunity to see the film! Now just waiting to see the picture of the group ;-)

Loved it Loved it Loved it! I read the book the day that it was released and forgot a lot of the little details that I saw in the movie. I can't wait for part 2. I actually went home that night and picked the book back up so I could have a refresher. Thank you beehive and Beth!

I was SOOO ready for a REALLY good movie! But I was disappointed! I hyped myself up for no reason. It could've been better, no. It SHOULD'VE been better - good enough so that I would wait anxiously for part 2! It did not have a big climax, it was just a really long movie. There were some good parts in the movie though and I just missed seeing the familar faces on screen again. I'd say it's a 2.5 out of 5, almost 3, but not quite either. But I can say this though, IT'S WAY BETTER THAN THOSE TWILIGHT MOVIES :P

I would rate this HP movie much higher than you did, but I do agree wholeheartedly that the Harry Potter books are much better written than the Twilight series, and the HP movies are also better, although I did find the Twilight movies more entertaining than the Twilight books. My 13-yaer-old granddaughter does not agree with me, sad to say.

Beehive been bery bery good to me!

Thanks SO MUCH for the chance to see this on Monday! I took my Fiance (who has not read the books) and we both enjoyed it.
The whole Dobby scene had me bawling like a BABY, and I was NOT the only one.
Just like when I saw the rest of the movies, I was bummed when it ended since I want the story to continue.

Thanks again Beehive!

I saw the movie last night thanks you guys and I absolutely loved it!!! I'm a reader of the Harry Potter series of books and I think they did an awesome job on the movie. The movie made me laugh, made new jump, and almost brought me to tears. I can't wait to see part 2, but definitely will be sad to see this great series of movies to be ending.

all i have to say is "wow" i was so happily surprised with this movie, it did a beautiful job depicting the book. I was sad when i ended i wanted more more more, but i couldn't have imagined a better way to end this one, i am glad they gave Hedwig (the owl) more of a strong send off all in all amazing film!!!! thank you bee hive for allowing us to see this film, the audience was great the prizes seemed pretty awesome, and even after the tight fit you were able to accommodate all the contest winners and the fobo groups!! thank you soooo very much!

First off thanks to the Beehive for a wonderful event. Even the gatecrashers couldn't detract. Movie was amazing, the fact that they were able to convert 500 pages of text and not get bogged down was great. There obviously a few things not there but the main important things were. Hopefully, this means that Part 2 will be as lovely, shocking, silly, funny, beautiful and true as the first.

"gatecrashers"?!

i saw the movie an i loved it i just became a fan two years ago an i cant wait to see the next one.i almost mist the screening monday.but i got lucky.

I loved this film! I was really glad to hear a few sniffles from others toward the end, I knew it was coming and it still made me cry almost as much as in the book. I'm so glad that they are really sticking to the book on this one. Thanks for the tickets!

So good! My wife and I loved this movie! It was so much more intense then the previous Harry Potter films. I loved the story of the three brothers alot. I thought the way they animated the story and told it was awesome. We'll definatley be going to see this film again.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to see it Monday night with all of the other Beehive readers! I thought the movie was fantastic! The people who love the books will like this movie because the plot stays very close to the actual book's plot. They also had some cool special effects (ie, explaining the Deathly Hallows). Plus the humor and characters were enjoyable too. And the opening scene with Hermione was a good addition - it was really touching. Overall, a very good movie.

Many thanks to the Beehive for giving my husband and I a date night! We both love the books and the previous movies, so we were excited to see this one and it did not disappoint! I think it is the best so far! It was visually stunning and its fast pace, sometimes "Blair Witch" type feel made it very exciting. I have always loved the Harry and Ron exchanges and they continue to be funny in this film. I also enjoyed the animated tale of the Deathly Hallows. And even though I knew it was going to happen, I was so sad when Hedwig died. I guess it was one of those things I hoped they would leave out of the movie version.

Thank you soooooooo much for the tickets to the special showing of the newest Harry Potter movie!

I loved the movie so much!!!

The story was great and I loved how all of the characters had a significant part in the story line. I have been a fan for a short time and have seen all of the movies, and this last one made me want to watch all of the movies all over again.

Thank you Beehive for putting on such a fantastic event. My husband and I truly enjoyed the movie. I am a new fan of the Harry Potter series. What I enjoyed most about the movie was seeing good friends looking out for each other. Great movie for all to see over the Thanksgiving holiday.

I thought the movie was very good. I have not read any of the books, I have only seen the movies, so there were some parts, such as the wedding, where I was a little lost on who was who, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. I am looking forward to seeing how the series ends.

Thank you, Beehive, for the opportunity to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 Monday night! The movie was phenomenal... well written and well acted. I still miss some details WB dropped out of the last few movies and wonder how Part 2 will address some of the gaping holes - but this film remained very true to the book (with those pesky gaping holes being the exception). I was particularly pleased with the spectacular Tom Felton's ability to address some of the more subtle changes in the Draco Malfoy character given very little screen-time to do it. Actually - I could go on at length about each of the actors and the kudos they deserve (not just the "big 3" either).
In short - this film is truly worthy of the book that inspired it. I'm anxiously looking forward to Part 2.

The movie was amazing! It was much better than I expected. For me, it stayed significantly close to the book and I really liked that. I can hardly wait for part 2!

First of all I would like to thank the fresno bee for giving my friend and I the opportunity to see this early screening of the Deathly Hallows! I enjoyed the movie very much. I was a little skeptical about some scenes they added in that wasn't in the book but it didn't bother me. They followed the storyline very much the same as the book and had just the right amount of anticipation, suspense and emotion in it. I also think that they ended it very cleverly and in a good area that doesn't exactly leave you hanging too badly. I love the clever remarks that Ron and Hermione had and the comedy scenes that were so enjoyable. I'm so excited to see part 2 and I still can't get over how great this movie was. Definantly a must see in theaters for those of you reading this and haven't seen it yet!

Thanks so much to the Beehive for the tickets on Monday evening, my brother and I were elated to see it 3 days before almost everyone else. I was very pleased with the movie, and thought it showed extreme loyalty to the book. At first I was upset they split them, but now I can't imagine all of Hallows fit into just one film. They captured the new characters fantastically, and ended (sadly) just where I felt was a perfect apex. I definitely can't wait to see part 2.

The movie was GREAT! I loved it! I agree with a review online though, I think I have to watch the second part of the movie first to really review it. This movie followed the books the most closely out of the whole series I think. This movie had more things that related to the book and was truly a movie for the fans. This movie truly surpassed my expectations. I am so happy that they added those few scenes that really did add a lot of laughs in too. I was really nervous about the split and everything but I am really glad that they did split it. All of the actors/actresses shined in their roles. The whole movie somehow worked and I can hardly wait to see part two! Although of course I am sad it is all coming to an end.
Please hold another one of these for Part 2!! :)

I loved the movie..the ction did not stop and there were even a few tears. I was so excited to have seen the film before many others, my nephew who is 16 loved that! I appreciated that the film gave us so much information on the characters and cleared up many questions I had. I can not wait for the next part! So excited!

Loved the movie! Thanks to the Beehive for getting us in early! Let's face it, this movie is for the die-hard fans who love the story and journey of Harry Potter. So yes, this film does drag a bit in the middle, but I think it really does make the audience really feel the despair of Harry and his friends. There is more than enough action and suspense in the rest of the movie to please everyone else as well.

Additionally, I loved the security guard that made everyone silence their phones and not even pull them out. The movie was not interrupted by people texting or calling and it was awesome! They should do that for every movie. That is all.

I loved it! They were able to stay true to the book for the most part. There was alot of good action throughout the movie. It did not seem long at all. I can't wait to see part 2!!!
