Have you heard about the kickball league that's starting up in Fresno? Fresno dude Robert Linares is heading up a Fresno league for the World Adult Kickball Association.
The season is set to start on March 11, but every Thursday night until then (including tonight) the Fresno league is hosting pick-up games at Einstein Park at 6:30 p.m. There's no cost to go out and play at the pick-up games. But you have to be 21-and-up to join.
To register for the 10-week season, it's $64 per person. Linares says a portion goes to planning league parties. In fact, he adds the league is also a "social club" and members will be going out to local bars and restaurants after games. You can register alone or in groups.
You might remember that someone tried unsuccessfully to start a WAKA league in Fresno a couple years back. That wasn't Linares, who says that never took off because someone from out of town was trying to organize it. Linares says he expects the league to fill up soon. You can follow WAKA Fresno on Twitter or join their group of Facebook.
Below are some WAKA videos -- a Kickball 101 and a highlight reel from the Kansas City league, and a promo for the Founders Cup, WAKA's annual championship in Las Vegas.

And since I've been an Ahole lately, let me use this post to congratulate the Fresno players who are representing the USofA in Canada next week at an international floorball tournament.
The only one I know of for certain is Jason Gray of www.physiomotion.com, a local physical therapist/owner who has been a good friend for years. Big ups to him for getting invited to the US team for this new international sport, and good luck to them in Canada next week!
This looks pretty awesome and way more organized than those dopey Fresno Wiffleball League guys.
Woooo hooo for geeky alt sports!
Bring back the wiffle league, I want in!
You're in, Bryan! In fact, you're now Comish and webmaster for the league... So yeah, get on that... Wiffleball rules!
This looks cool, One of the guys gave me a business card and said anyone is welcome
