UPDATE: Props to Marc M., who correctly guessed that this image comes from Wassabi in Fig Garden Village. The new, 350-seat restaurant is much larger than the original, which continues to operate at First Street and Herndon Avenue.
Wassabi owner K.C. Choi is shooting for a January 6 opening in Fig Garden Village. See more photos of the new restaurant after the jump.
ORIGINAL POST: It's been a while since we've played "Yes, I'm a Tease," so here's a reminder of how this works.
I present a picture that hints at something new in the Valley's food scene. You guess what it is, and I'll post the answer later.
Ready? Here you go:
The mystery photo above, as well as the one below, are detail shots of giant panels with anime characters:
Here's one of the dining rooms:
And gentlemen, please don't pee here:
This urinal sits in one of the dining rooms and functions as art. (Choi tells me there's another one like it in the men's room at the original Wassabi. That one, I presume, is used for its intended purpose.)

scary circus food
Is this the new Wassabi @ Fig Garden?
Dragonball Z: The Restaurant?
That...would...be...AWESOME!
There is a sushi place in Berkeley whose walls were plastered with anime posters. And there was always anime playing on the tvs. I'd be happy with a place like that here.
That is a Character from Bleach!
The character is Ikkaku Madarame I believe.
you are right!
dave & Busters?
That's a lot fancier than the other one.
my lord, i cannot stand that wassabi place. i still do not understand the attraction.
Hey, maybe the decor will make everyone forget that they're eating terribly Americanized something or other (not sushi)... LOL
hahaha, right on David.
i agree. it is one thing to have great decor in a restaurant, but i find so many restaurants have the need to be gimmicky, over the top, or flare driven to hide the fact they just cannot cut it on the culinary side. i mean, if you look at wassabi advertising, they try to sell anything but the food.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wassabi. they have great food with alot of class. i dont see what the problem is. i work there and see satisfied customers everyday. half of these people complaining about wassabi probley have never been to wassabi. they hear these stories and false accusations. i mean come on! what is wrong with the way it looks inside? i dont see any other restaurant that has a taste of style like wassabi does.
Have you ever been to the original wassabi? Its super busy and the food really is To Die For. This place has obviously been so successful that they were able to open a much more attractive and flashy one. Thats all it is. They got it so they can flaunt it. And please take a moment to realize that people are NOT going to blow money (especially in this economy) on unsatisfactory food. This place is so successful because people only come and return FOR THE FOOD. The funky decor and crazy things about this restaurant are just bonuses to the great food. The fact that wassabi is able to make such a step up from the small (but still satisfying) location on first and herndon to this huge REAL restaurant in Fig Garden is VERY impressive. Some people just always want to find something to complain about. They're not unhappy with the food, decor, or whatever, they're just simply unhappy people. And as far as i can see....there's only Happy people in wassabi everytime i've gone. So they're definitely pleasing to Fun-loving, Open-minded sushi lovers.
