Everyone's favorite children's television show featuring a green monster in a trash can turns 40 this month! On November 10, "Sesame Street" will kick off its 40th season with special guest First Lady Michelle Obama.
Celebrations are starting early: Google is already getting in on the festivities, as seen below.
Let's also take a trip down memory lane with the classic show. After the jump are a few of my favorite "Sesame Street" clips. I invite you to talk about/share links of your favorites in the comments section.
How Crayons Are Made
This video continues to amaze me. All those fresh, unused crayons: I want to dive into a pile of them.
Pinball Animation: 12
This, right here. This is why "Sesame Street" rules.
Teeny Little Super Guy
There was a guy at my former work I dubbed Teeny Little Super Guy, and I'd sing this song in my head whenever I saw him. He didn't solve problems so much as create them, but he was small.
Ladybugs' Picnic
Roasting marshmallows and telling knock-knock jokes? Who wouldn't want to go to a Ladybugs' picnic?
The Alligator King
Lesson: Don't eat rubies.
Your turn: what's your favorite "Sesame Street" moment?

I always liked it when 'v' was the letter of the day, cuz they would have a vampire in the cartoon.
I liked the burt and ernie bits, like when they got on each others nerves and thought the other one was too noisy, they ran around plugging in loud blenders and other ampliances until they blew the fuse.
The theme song always seemed sort of melancholy to me though. That jazz harmonica always sounded sort of lonely in the incidental music.
So many great words begin with the letter V. I never realized it before, but "Sesame Street" is great for those who like to play Scattergories.
the big bird movie!!! what was it called? Follow that Bird? whatever, i still remember me and a bunch of kids going to Festival Cinemas to watch it.
When i was younger, my brother and I had Bert and Ernie dolls. Of course i was bert because i'm boring and always needed to be clean, haha.
I'm a Bert, too. I completely understand his desire for Ernie to STFU sometimes.
Between this & Reading Rainbow (RIP), so many memories. Butterflies in the skyyyyy....
... I can go twice as high ...
I LOVED that video of how crayons were made when I was little!! Man!! It was great!
Burt and Ernie were my favorite! And Sully. And Guy Smiley!!!
When Michelle Obama was on Sesame Street, do you think the Count explained to her how spending doesn’t reduce the deficit?
Wow....so many memories here! Sesame street is exactly one month and 2 days older than me! For Christmas last year, my mom gave me the Classic Sesame Street (Vol. 1) DVDs and my kids LOVE it! I find it strange how there's a disclaimer at the beginning that the DVDs are purely for entertainment purposes.
My all-time favorites were "Daddy Dear", "Everybody Sleeps" and "King of Eight".
Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
