Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

You can see that vampire/werewolf movie ... or any of these fine options:

1. KISS SOMEBODY: Gene Simmons? Paul Stanley? Your mama. Doesn't matter to us. The big show of the weekend is KISS, playing Saturday night at Save Mart Center. But before you go paint your face, read my interview with Stanley to raise your KISS mojo. And remember to get there early to check out local band Shiver Fox opening the show.

If you're looking for the place to go post-KISS, consider Crossroads, which has KISS cover band Gods of Thunder ready to rock the afterparty.

2. HATE OR LOVE BROKENCYDE: Brokencyde is in town tonight. Some people consider them the worst. band. ever. But some kids love them. You can give 'em a shot at Starline -- or just read this interview with group member Phat J about the group's relative suckiness or awesomeness.

3. PUT SOME MYLES ON YOUR DANCING SHOES: Blues/roots rock guitarist A.C. Myles is always a hoot, always one for unpredictable antics. So check him out at Audie's Olympic on tonight. He's been out on the road a lot this year, so welcome him home.

4. LAUGH AT SOMEONE: No, not the Brokencyde fans. Laugh at one of the comedy shows coming our way way this weekend. There are a few of them fighting for your attention.

5. DON'T STOP BELIEVING: If neither KISS nor Brokencyde are your brand of rock, maybe you just need some Journey. And while Fresno can't deliver the real thing this weekend, it can offer up tribute band Midnight Run, which is playing Tower Theatre on Saturday night.

COme on down for an early evening Music Treat
with me, Blake Jones and my Trike Shop pal Martin Hansen laying out songs old and brand-spankin' new at VELOURIA RECORDS on Mainstreet in Visalia------ah, a nice autumn evening, grab some dinner or coffee or a beer at Brewbakers before or after (or both). And it's FREE! (the beer/dinner/coffee's not free, but the live music in the cool record store is!)

--we're opening for Three at the Door who gave a super cool performance at Re:FUSE.

that's tomorrow early eve (we START at 5pm)
at Velouria in Visalia! See ya there!

OUTBREAK and SOUL CONTROL tonight.
along with Tragic Ends from LA and Bridges from Fresno @ CYC - 901 F St.
6pm
$10 (bring a can of food and get $1 off)

Brokencyde doors are really at SEVEN PM, not 5pm as noted on the flyer.

Seven.

I'm staying in the south valley this weekend. Going to see a production of HONK, by the kiddos from Tulare County Office of Ed tonight. Tomorrow it's Blake at Veloura and then comedy at the Cellar Door.

I approve heartily of this young woman's choice of Saturday evening entertainment and challenge all local citizens to make such wise decisions.

Yes... Ron G. is HILARIOUS!

Just saw the Brokencyde show and...I'm speechless.

Sort of.

Wow. 12 year olds up to maybe 20, screaming 14 year old girls, and the most ridiculous lyrics ever. EVER.

The crowd also loved the Screamo Gay Glam duo 'Blood on the Dance Floor.' Screamo Gay Glam, is that 'Scram?' The use of the dildo, silly string as, um, seminal fluid, the size 0 boy shirtless doing the hula hoop, the lip-syncing, and best of all the pre-song 'Who here is gonna suck my ----?!??'

Brokencyde I think revels in the critics horrendous reviews of them, but the 100 or so 14-17 year olds pushed their way as close to the stage as possible while 13 year old girls screamed and cried after getting a chance to touch Se7en's hair with thier fingers.

All I can do is sound like the old man I am and say 'Kids these days with their long hair and their music...I just don't get it.'

It was an amusing night, I can say that for sure...

Went to see Midnight Run last night at the Tower and what a show they put on!!! Plenty of standing ovations, impeccible lyrics and music by the musicians. Max DeVivo on lead guitar was just outstanding. Max has truely put together a group of guys who are dedicated to the "Journey" legacy. If you haven't heard this band you are really missing out. The band has done an excellent job of producing all the era's of Journey in a first class production. This concert even included a encore which really "ROCKED THE HOUSE". This band is definitely a "must see" if you are a Journey fan. Look for upcoming performances locally this coming year.
