Wooooo for the Phil!
Thanks
Sounds like fun!
I love the classic music. When I was little, and now I continue, I closed my eyes and imagine anywhere. The music transforms you and raises you...
Winner?
hi =)
It will be great to have the opportunity to go to this event. It will be my first time on an event like this. Thank you!
Thank you for this opportunity. Will check your blog more often. I hope I win it!
Definitely check back. We like giving away tickets for great events in Fresno. We'll have more Philharmonic tickets down the road.
The concert was definitely was of the orchestra's best. Brahms for me always had a dream like quality. One could hear in this performance melodies and colors from Brahms' other works. The great thing about this performance early in the season is that the orchestra was so together, I was able to actually sink into the music rather than having distractions due to intonation or not playing together. I do have to note a child's cry, which was unfortunate.
As for the Mozart, Meng-Chieu LIu's playing was precise and yet delicate like a Mozart opera. The fact that the orchestra was so together allowed me to get involved in the music itself. I wish I had a recording of this performance. The encore (Beethoven) brought the audience to its feet
As for the Dvorak, for me the 8th is known not necessarily for its opening measures but more for what follows. Hearing familiar melodies is always nice; being able to hear harmonies and parts as if newly discovered is always a treat.
If I had any complaints about last night, it's the placement of the orchestra. I am within ten rows of the front and the orchestra was set far back in the shell and sounded muffled. Not only that I was further away from the orchestra and lost that feeling of being close. I felt cheated. What a shame. Such a great performance.
The concerto was just IN-CRE-DI-BLE !!! Thanks for the great opportunity !! :-)
