On TV tonight

Pumpkin.jpg "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" 8 p.m. KFSN (Channel 30.1): Just like it's traditional to watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" each December, this Charles Schulz Halloween special, that first aired in 1966, is mandatory watching to get in the spooky spirit. There is something inspirational about the faith Linus has in the Great Pumpkin. And as if that wasn't enough, there's the classic aerial dogfight between Snoopy on his Sopwith Camel and the Red Baron.

"2009 Scream Awards," 10 p.m. Spike: The awards show salutes the best in horror, sci-fi and fantasy. Categories include Best Comic Book Artist and Most Memorable Mutilation. Vampires take the spotlight as the casts of "The Vampire Diaries," "Twilight" and "True Blood" will be at the event. George Romero gets the Scream Mastermind Award and William Shatner does a little campaigning for the next "Star trek" movie.

Some of my fave bits on 'Great Pumpkin' are:

*the spooky skies when Snoopy is slinking through enemy territory after the dogfight--seriously, look at those colors--spookymoodycool.

*When Snoopy is acting out the WWI songs while Schroeder plays---and he gets all broken up and howls (like a dog) and then gets embarrassed.

(hey, I hope these aren't 'spoilers'--everyone in America's seen this thing at least 20 or 30 times, right?)

I too wait patiently for the annual marker of the holiday season with the Charlie Brown specials, this starts the holidays officially for me. No Blake you didn't spoil it, just great scenes to remember. I also LOVE (and always giggle) when Snoopy is in mid flight and looks straight at the camera and us!
Yay for Charlie Brown! This will be the year he gets more than just rocks!
