While you search for tricks and treats ...
1. GET SPOOKED
We know what you want this weekend -- to be scared. The Fresno area gives us plenty of options. There's Haunted Fresno in downtown, Fright Night Scream Park in Clovis and Sanger's Hobb's Grove. Plus, check out my most recent column for info on one local guy who tricks out his own casa into a neighborhood haunted house that last year attracted 700 people. For a rundown of local haunted activities check here and here. If you're looking for Halloween parties, take a look after the jump.
1.5. COSTUMED CRAZINESS
We have a whole post dedicated to Halloween club happenings -- but one of particular interest is going on at Audie's Olympic. Dread Zeppelin is the headliner and all you need to know about them is they play reggae versions of Led Zeppelin songs and their lead singer dressed like Elvis. Even if it weren't Halloween, it would be like Halloween.
2. EAT 'GREEN EGGS' AT THE MET
The sequel to The Fresno Met's grown-folk "Let Them Eat Cake" party is tonight's "Green Eggs and The Met," which features cool local bands, Dr. Seuss-inspired food and drink, plus a look at The Met's fun new "The Art of Dr. Seuss" exhibit. On a more family-friendly note: Kids who come dressed in their Halloween costumes get in The Met for half-off on Saturday, which is the official opening day for the Seuss exhibit.
3. TALK IT OUT
Saddle Creek Records band Land of Talk is in Visalia tonight for a date at The Cellar Door. Noteworthy for them: Singer/guitarist Elizabeth Powell used to date Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and the band toured with Broken Social Scene. They're also from Canada, so go say "eh."
4. THE TIMING IS RIGHT FOR AN ENCORE
From the world of theater: Rogue Festival hit "All in the Timing" returns tonight for a new run. This time it's a "Director's Cut" and it runs through Nov. 29 at Severance.
5. DISCOVER TOTIMOSHI
If you like metal mixed with classic rock, then bring your devil horns to Audie's Olympic on Sunday, where L.A. trio Totimoshi is playing a kinda-last-minute show.

I lived in LA for awhile. When I first moved there, it drove me crazy to open the paper and that...James Brown, X, and Joe Jackson would all be playing the same week. Maybe I wouldn't get the chance to go to *any* of them, but then the next week 3 other groups I'd love to see were playing----it was crazy.
I came from Fresno where maybe once every 3 months a band would come through that I'd LOVE to see.
Now things have changed. Too much, and I can't see it all!
I'll miss Shonen Knife AND Vampire Weekend.
But I AM going to Seuss at the Met and I HOPE I go see the All in the Timing soon.
Glad that Fresno (I'll include Visalia, since I live about midway betwixt) is throwing so many opportunities out there these days!
