Dane Cook is at the Save Mart Center tonight. I probably should have mentioned this somewhere on The Beehive before today. But, honestly, Dane Cook doesn't excite me too much.
I'll be interested to see how show turns out, though. I have no doubts that Dane Cook is popular. I'm not so sure about the funny part. Or the worth-a-$101.75-ticket part.
Obviously, my taste is a little different than Fresno's. I don't think George Lopez is funny either, but that guy has the biggest drawing show ever at Save Mart Center at 15,000+.
So I figured we'd take a poll. Who thinks Dane Cook is funny? Who is going to pay their hard-earned money to see him? Who thinks his being in Fresno tonight is a huge deal?
And who is with me and thinks Dane Cook sucks?

Dane Cook is funny in the way that your funnier friends are funny, but as a comic he is not funny.
Charging $100 to see his show is the only funny thing he's ever done.
I haven't really been a fan of his ever since I saw one of his first shows and I was able to finish half of his jokes, or at least deliver a similar punchline, because they were all old Richard Pryor jokes. If you're not clever enough to come up with your own jokes and you have to resort to stealing, at least steal from someone that's a little lesser known.

use the ticket price to rent some older "stand-ups" movies and you will get to see the original jokes with better delivery...its true.

Comics are only funny when you can relate to what they are talking about. George Lopez is hilarious to me because the people he talks about are people i deal with in every day life so to me he's funny. Carlos Mencias i hate idk but i cant stand the guy. Dane Cook, i can relate to some of his stuff also so he's funny to me.

His best role was in "Waiting...", only cause I didn't know he was in the movie till the credits rolled.

Never heard of him until today. My daughter bought tix for she and her boyfriend. When I asked him about Cook he said he was a funny guy, but later on he wanted to back out and suggested she go to the show with one of her girlfriends. He must have changed his mind about how funny Cook is, but I'm not getting in the middle of that discussion.

Dane Cook is not that great. His style of comedy is a dime a dozen and he relies so much on shock humor now. Farting in a baby's face? Really now? Demitri Martin and Jim Gaffigan are funny. If you want funny in Fresno, you HAVE to check out the local improv troupe Blimprov. They're great. www.blimprov.com :)
I am a big fan of Dane Cook... but I went to Friday night's concert (cheap seats please!) AND I have to say that I wasn't all that impressed. I had already heard most of that stuff and it seemed to be a VERY short show. He had only one opening act, which was hilarious. But Dane disappointed. Sad. :(
Dane Cook sucks but "Waiting..." is pretty funny.
