The Beehive Asks: Best 80s movies?

The death of writer/director John Hughes got me thinking about my favorite 80s movies. It's funny, as much as I love "Sixteen Candles," and "The Breakfast Club," my VERY favorite 80s flick is, like, for sure, "Valley Girl." I love the music, the ridiculous dialog (Man, he's like tripendicular, ya know?) and the bad-boy (a young Nicolas Cage) turning the preppy-girl (Deborah Foreman) to the dark Hollyweird side.

What's your fave?

Sixteen candles and Valley Girl are great. But I also enjoyed Caddy Shack, Fletch and Spinal Tap!

Um, not clear what you want here. Best movie made in the 1980s? Or best movie set in the 1980s about teenagers?

If you're asking about best films of the 1980s:

"Raging Bull"
"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
"E.T"
"Ran"
"Tootsie"
"The Verdict"
"Terms of Endearment"
"The Right Stuff"
"Platoon"
"Hope and Glory"
"Broadcast News"

If you're talking best films about teenagers in the 1980s:

"Fast Times at Ridgemont High"
"Pretty in Pink"
"Ferris Beuller's Day Off"
"Bad Boys" (with Sean Penn, not the Will Smith movie)

Easy answer: "Heathers."

Favorite line: "Grow up, Heather, bulimia's so '87."

Oh, that's a good one. There are so many gems in that movie.

Oh yeah....

Abe Froman, sausage king of Chicago.

The Lost Boys ( of course, it's VAMPIRES!, however, it was also the second in a Hellraiser/The Lost Boys double feature on my very first date, EVER)

Fast Times at Ridgemont High ( which my mother did NOT let me watch, so I saw it years later)

Flashdance ( my mother thought I was watching one of the Superman movies, but I snuck in to Feel the Feelin')

Pretty In Pink

Less Than Zero (got to see that on Skinamaz while babysitting)

The Breakfast Club

Sixteen Candles ( second only to Ferris Bueler's Day off when it comes to quotability)

Urban Cowboy ( Yes, I love Urban Cowboy,it's out!I will not hide in shame)

Say Anything (introduced me to the music God that is Peter Gabriel)

Top Gun ( who else wandered Lemore Air Shows thinking of that movie?)

Dirty Dancing ( another skinamax watch while babysitting)

and

Heathers.

Just watched Back To The Future twice, once by itself, and then again with the commentary on. One of my all-time faves.

Say Anything
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Trading Places
Tampopo
Rocky IV

...this is going to take a while, I'll get back to ya.

I will say this.

I've seen almost NONE of the trailers to these films, (I am sooooooooo glad) or I would have never watched them... (boy are these things (trailers) bad.... yeeesh.)
