"The Big Bang Theory" was given the award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy while "Mad Men" took home the award for Outstanding Achievement in Drama at the 25th Anniversary TCA Awards. Eleven awards, based on the voting of the members of the Television Critics Association, were handed out Saturday.
Along with the top comedy honor, "Big Bang" star Jim Parsons took home the award for Individual Achievement in Comedy. It was the most deserving award of the night as Parsons has quickly become the funniest man in television. Fans of the CBS Monday night comedy know what I am talking about. If you aren't watching the show, you are missing a smart and very funny comedy.
Parsons said before the awards that all of the attention the show is getting seems a little surreal. He was also quick to say that while he is honored to get individual attention, it is the entire cast that makes the show work. He's right. But, Parson is a major part of that group success.
Noah Wyle picked up the Heritage Award given to "ER." He said that while all of the "ER" cast is looking for new projects, they all know "ER" was something special and that "lightning only strikes once."
Chowchilla native Ron Moore was not on hand to pick up the Program of the Year award for his "Battlestar Galactica." He was in Canada directing an episode of his new series "Caprica."
