The Fresno Grizzlies and The Beehive are partnering for The Great Fresno Tweetup -- a chance for Fresno-area Twitter users to meet, mingle and enjoy a Grizzlies game at The Chuk.
It's happening July 30, which just happens to be a Thirsty Thursday**.
Here's how the Tweetup will work:
- There will be a special $5 ticket available to local Tweeps. It included a $1 drink ticket good for your first $1 beer or soda.
- You MUST message the Grizzlies on Twitter (@fresnogrizzlies) and reserve a space for the game. There will be a special will-call table to pick up tickets.
- Everybody gets a nametag and sits in the same section, so we can build some Fresno Tweep camaraderie.
- One lucky Beehive follower will throw out what we're calling the "First Twitch" -- the ceremonial first pitch preceded and followed by tweets. Watch @fresnobeehive to learn how to win. We'll be giving away some free tickets to the game next week too.
- Use the hashtag #tgft when talking about the The Great Fresno Tweetup -- that'll allow for some fun stuff like getting Tweets posts on the video board during the game.
- In addition to RSVPing with @fresnogrizzlies, you can let the whole Fresno Twitter nation know you're attending by giving us a "Yes" on the Twtvite page.

i don't have tweeter but i'll be at the game foshow dough.
This is a great idea, but the fatal flaw may be the direct messaging for tickets. Twitter doesn't make it very obvious, but you can't direct message someone who isn't following you. Hopefully @fresnogrizzlies implements some kind of auto-follow so when you follow them, they follow back immediately.
In any case, sounds like fun.
I tried sending a direct message to @fresnogrizzlies and I was informed it wouldn't send as they are not following me. If I RSVP'd on the Twtvite page, can I get a ticket that way?

Solution:
All you have to do is reply to @fresnogrizzlies (not DM) and you're good to go.
