The Beehive Asks: Where are you eating? (The Cheap Edition)

It's already Wednesday, and since you ate such interesting things last week, I figured I'd pose the question to you again.

But here's the twist: This time, tell us about your inexpensive eats of the week. Say, in the range of $10 or less for lunch and $15 or less for dinner?

Same rules apply. Feel free to dish -- on the good and the bad, in and out of the Valley. The more descriptive, the better.

Full credit for this post goes to Lisa Birrell, marketing manager at The Bee. After enjoying an $8 lunch (a spring roll, salad, garlic noodles, and sauteed shrimp and mango) at Mangosteen, she wanted more recession-friendly ideas.

So do I. Tell us, please: Where are you eating on the cheap?

I don't know how much it cost, but it was less than $15.00. Right now I'm having pot stickers and Mongolian beef with steamed rice from ding ho.

The Dog House Grill near the college on Shaw. They have excellent burgers and I hear their pulled pork sandwiches are fantastic! Plus it's a meal for under $10 a person at least

El Pescador Taqueria. Seafood tacos (scallop and salmon = deliciousness) for only $3.25 each and throw in a side of beans or rice for under two dollars. You will be stuffed!

taqueria garibaldi in manchester center has really good breakfast burritos. it comes out to like four bucks and it fills you up so if you eat it midmorning, you are full until dinnertime. i get mine with eggs, potatoes, rice, cheese, and chile. also in manchester center (yes, i work at workforce connection!), there is this little shop called blue chip ice cream and they have delicious sandwiches. not as good as sunnyside deli, but still very yummy. they have ham, turkey, pastrami, tri tip, and more. the large, with my 10% discount for working at the mall, comes out to four eighty-something.

Charlotte's!!!

Ginza Gourmet Teriyaki House (my family always just calls it Ginza) on 1st and Bullard serves delicious teriyaki bowls and tempura dishes. It's a small place with a family feel. Sometimes they get busy for lunch, but they are always extremely friendly.

@kumar hell ya, Charlotte's is a tasty spot.

The Kebob place downtown next door to the Newsroom downtown at Inyo and L is pretty good as is the Newsroom.

However, in the spirit of Mike Oz, you can't beat Tacos Tijuana on Ventura.

I really like Round Table's pizza buffet. $7 gets you all the pizza, salad, cinnamon & parmesan twists you can eat. I suggest going to the one on Bullard and First because people who work there are really nice. Also, the pizza is always fresh and loaded with toppings.

MMMMMM Tacos Tijuana! But if you are looing for good Chinese food, try Ming Ho at First and Bullard, $5.60 will get you the "Special Plate".
Chow Mein, awesome fried rice, and your choice of
fried shrimp or egg fu young or sweet and sour pork. At Ming Ho you leave with plenty of food for cheap.

A friend took my to Happy Star yesterday located near Palm & Olive. I ordered a CA Roll (made with real crab) and an Alaskan Roll (salmon, avocado and cucumber) for only $7 ~ plus tax keeps it under $10. Very fast service, too! I highly suggest it.

Tacos Tijuana is amazing!

We've been doing a lot of Subway lately. My husband gets the $5 foot long BLT and I get a foot long Turkey. After tax it comes out to like $11 and some change. Not bad at all.

Thinking about going to Cosmo downtown. Awesome sandwhiches!

Tower Market at Olive and Van Ness. Da bomb.

The french dip at Joe's Steakhouse! Mmmm...on Wednesdays it's the special for $5 but it's a smaller version (although still delish). Regularly, I think it's like 8 bucks and it comes with fries or potato or macaroni salad.

Costco hot dog & soda: $1.50. WIN!

Wendys...
Double stack, Chili, and a Coke for $3.23 tax included!
Chew on that!

Happy First International Sushi Day!!! I'll be hitting up the Sushi 80's and getting some cheap very good eats!

I can tell you where I am NOT eating cheap! IRENE'S!!!! Sandwhich, Fries, and an Iced Tea with tip. cost me like 18 bucks!!! At lunch Time. Oh yea, not to mention the buck and a half for some ranch. Won't be going there again for a while. Was a very faithful customer. Don't think their prices went up, just think my $$ went down.

For that dollar fiddy you could of bought a whole bottle!

I tend to split meals with my husband, so that keeps the price down and I can still have a cocktail! Did this at Agave Grill about a week ago, and it was perfect because they serve bean dip and salsa and chips.

It's all about Charlotte's Bakery. Nice size sandwich for under 6 bucks and everything is pretty much homemade!

TACO GRANDE!! That's the place to go. It's a tiny little place that makes the most authentic mexican food in town! Tastes just like my grandmas homemade food. They're famous "Taco Grande" is only $3.15 and it is indeed a GRANDE TACO! They have a website www.tacogrande.net and they always have coupons on the site. Right now it's buy one get one 50% off. They also have smaller versions of the "taco grande" that are $1.85, can't beat that. All their food is under $8.00 no joke. GO THERE!! They have more than one location but the one I go to is on Blackstone next to Weinerschnitzel. mmmm, now I'm hungry

I love the food at the Mediteranian, but the new owner jacked the prices and made the servings way smaller. I won't go ,anymore and I mourn the loss of a favorite for me.

Thai Gem in Clovis on Shaw...in the strip mall fronted by Dennys and anchored by the 99 cents store. Whit the owner is also the server and the food is phenominal and authentic THAI CUISINE. I always get the Panang Chicken that comes on a sizzling hot plate and my wife gets the red curry chicken (like a great soup) and puts it over rice. Sometimes we also have his great BEEF SALAD and it is to die for....when he had the Bangkok on Ashlann and Blackstone I ate there at lunch for the HOUSE FRIED RICE with Chicken...a flavorful meal in itself.

Ïor fast food...Taco Grande in Pinedale. Great Mexican food. The chili colorado breakfast burrito is huge and tasty. (near Weinersnitzle)

Downtown across the street from FUSD Building on Tulare and M is a japanese spot called Kiku. Man all u need to do is get the spicy chicken teriyaki plate for 6 bux. Whoooooweeee!! Bomb!

And I can't forget about Country Faire Cafe on Belmont and Chestnut. C'mon now, combo plate 2 enchiladas, taco, beans and rice for $5.50???? Service is hecka fast too!!!!

Country Fair cafe on Belmont and Chestnut. Kiku on Tulare and M street.
