Today is National Donut Day (or doughnut for our friends across the pond), and to celebrate, Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are giving away free donuts!
What's that you say? There are no Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme franchise stores in Fresno? Hmmm.
Anyone know of any local places doing anything to celebrate? And by "celebrate," I of course mean "giving away s*** for free."
Free or not free, anytime you're driving south on the 99, take the Sierra exit and turn right and go down about a half mile (diagonally across from the high school) and visit the wonder-ific Tom's Donuts! Yeah! Tom and his family rule. Great donuts---try the chocolate buttermilk ones.mmmmm.

Wait, so the differentiation between "donut" and "doughnut" is based on English/American? I always though it was just a matter of choice, but either was acceptable. Weird. So it's a "Color/Colour" thing, is it? Weiird.
I suppose the spelling is interchangeable.
Right or wrong, I always associate that extra "u" with the British way of spelling things, like your "colour" example, or "favourite" or "honour" -- all of which are being angrily red-underlined as I type them.
Interestingly, doughnut is not underlined.
oh man, my english teacher in high school always underlined when i wrote 'colour' or 'gray' ...or is it 'grey'?--even when he knew I was doing it on purpose as a sort of anglophile.
