It should be obvious from my reviews of "Star Trek," both in the Fresno Bee and online, that I really enjoyed the movie. And this is coming from a guy who remembers when the original series launched.
Now, it is your turn. Send me your short - and please keep them short - review of the film. Did you like the way the Enterprise looks? Was Chris Pine the right choice for Kirk? What is your reaction to the major plotline change (and you know what I mean)?
I'll sweeten the pot. Paramount Home video is releasing a couple of DVDS next week: "The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series" and "The Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation." Each DVD includes four episodes and they are some of the best. "The City on the Edge of Forever" is on the original series DVD while both parts of "The Best of Both Worlds" is on the other DVD.
Here's how you can win one of the DVDs. All you have to do is tell me where you can see a Tribble in the new "Star Trek" movie. Winners will be selected through a random drawing of those who spot the furry creature.
Please note: Comments will not be approved until the contest ends.
One more thing. Be sure to take a look at the web package we have created at http://www.fresnobee.com/static/2009/entertainment/startrek/. It includes everything from cast interviews to a very fun Easter egg.

Six words: Best Movie So Far in 2009 !!!
Great movie. I was entertained the whole way through. Super story line. Can't wait to see it again. Zachary Quinto rules as Spock!
this new Star Trek installment was so good that I will now start remembering the name "J.J. Abrams" and look out for anything else he might have made
I believe the tribble was on the ice planet on Scotties desk, i think i heard it first so it must have been alive? like in a cage?
It was GREAT!! Pine was pretty good.
But Quinto was great, i was worried having watched Heroes, but he is so Vulcan/Spock, it was very good. The Enterprise bridge was a little too bright? glass like, but hey, it was still pretty good.
I grew up watching TOS reruns, then started watching next GEN and loved them.
BUT this was quite a surprise, i was caught off guard and enjoyed every moment. Maybe the only minor drawback was the "single bad guy" kinda like nemesis? but really The WHOLE movie was so good.
8 or 9 outa 10 I will watch again in theater, and i only see 3 or so movies a year.
I won't be able to see it again until this weekend, but I'm going to guess it was in Uhura's and Miss Orion's dorm room.
Okay, honestly, my second guess was the outpost. I totally imagine Scotty keeping a tribble around as a drinking buddy...not sure what he's drinking, but I know "It's green."
OK, I cheated...it's on Scotty's desk on Delta Vega.
Re: the film...Abrams did what I thought was impossible...an homage wrapped in a maiden voyage...nods o'plenty, while foraging new terrain...from downbeat to touching post-credit dedication, as a TREKKIE, I'm totally at peace with this. Live long and prosper Rick.
The new star trek movie is an adventure. It takes you on a emotional roller coaster. It also alters the future this may or may not cause frustration for trekkies. But in my opinion it was a good choice and a good movie. I would give this movie a B+.
I loved the movie and think Chris Pine was a great choice. I also enjoyed how he story-line changed, while still being true to the story.
A Tribble can be seen when Scotty is introduced, you can see a ball of fur which is a Tribble.
