Am I the only one getting a kick out of the contrast happening in downtown Fresno this weekend? On one hand, there's motorcycle and music romp Fulton RevFest -- which is put on by the city, but is also heavy with KMJ sponsorship.
If I had to guess, I'd say the uber-conservative KMJ crowd probably isn't going to be a few blocks over at the Meet in the Middle 4 Equality, the state-wide gay rights rally at City Hall. It starts at 1 p.m. and is expected to draw a "at least a couple thousand people," including actress Charlize Theron.
I'm curious how many Fresnans will be going to both events. I'm planning to. I just hope the two sides don't meet in the middle -- say Eaton Plaza -- for a brawl.

That would be an epic battle. I can see it now. Both sides charging up the ramp of the county court house, and smash into each other all medieval style.
The turning point would be when the gay bikers and dikes on bikes reveal themselves from within the Revfest ranks.
Does anyone else see a Swede here? RevHeart maybe.
I think Moral Threat was talkin' about doing a Braveheart swede! Opportunity knocks!
Actually, if all goes well I was debating the march but if that doesn't happen then hoping at a minimum to check out the MITM rally. I also planned on checking out the revfest only because a bunch of guys on motorcycles essentially having a dick-waving contest is fun usually. Also, the bikes go on display at Chukchansi around 6:15 I think then a Grizzlies game follows so this might be the first time in a long time you can go downtown from morning and stay through the evening and not run out of things to do. This a first for downtown?
I'll be at both. This is definately going to be tricky.
why am I suddenly seeing Westside Story unfold??? Now there's a swede!
Eric McCormack from Will and Grace will also be attending Meet in the Middle, along with some other celebs not-yet-able-to-be-named!
Kudos to those doing both events, but I'll be at Meet in the Middle for the most important civil rights fight of my generation (too young for Dr. King).
Dustin Lance Black will also be at MITM4E.
I for one think the contrast of events is not as contrasty as it might first appear.
the ubiquitous line up of motorcycles in front of starbucks every sunday morning is your first clue.
If Police Academy has taught me anything, it's that bikers and the LGBT crowd are one and the same: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTJMerul33E
Michelle Clunie has announced her attendance as well. neat!
However, the true stars will be all the regular people (like me and you!) who stand together for this very important equal rights issue.
Not to worry, we gays love the bikers -- I mean c'mon, all that leather? And the women's motorcycle contingent (dykes on bikes) are practically the Knights Templar of the gay rights movement.
Bikers are good people, it's not their fault the sponsor is a douche.
I'm going to be at Meet in the Middle the entire day. From the March, to the clean up.
I think it's really important for all of us, both Gay & Straight, to stand together in this moment and time and support each other.
T.R. Knight of Grey's Anatomy has confirmed he'll be there with his boytoy, er, boyfriend.
