If you're like me, every so often you think, "Hmmmm. Remember when there was a big deal about The Chuk hosting concerts? I haven't seen one in a while."
Well, get ready. Bob Dylan announced dates for his annual summer tour of minor league baseball stadiums and Fresno is on the list. Plus: He's bringing along Willie Nelson and John "Don't Call Him Cougar" Mellencamp.
The show will be Aug. 14. Tickets cost $67.50 and seating is general admission. Children 14 and under are admitted free with each adult ticket holder. According to Dylan's Web site, tickets are set to go on sale May 30. There's a pre-sale set to start on May 25.

Sounds good. I'll go if I've got the $
I'm guessing this tour is sponsored by High Times Mag.?
Seriously, this actually is a pretty good line-up.
Dylan is indescipherable when he sings live, but usually packs a good back up band,
Nelson does a ton of great music (and has been playing stuff that he wrote for a lot of other people that nobody knew he wrote, -so that's usually pretty cool,)
And Mellencamp (honestly) needs a tour like this.
He's NOT in great health (he's practically smoked himself to death,)
--even had some record projects squashed by his label because it was 'too honest' about being addicted to cigarrettes, (yet his work has been pretty excllent, all things considered, for decades... NOT always cheerful, mind-you, but definitely worth hearing.)
I think it's going to be interesting to see what these three are going to say and do when they realize that they're playing a stones throw from some of the most nationally recognized (and hotly contested) 'tent-cities' in the nation,
(and can thank their lucky stars that they, themselves are recognizable,)
-cause if they weren't?
-the Cops'd bust 'em the night of the show for looking like vagrants.
Towlie, you really need to see Dylan a few more times. Almost every tour is different and I have seen him many times when he was very decipherable and in fact easy to understand. Granted, I've also seen him completely incoherent when he played with the Dead (lots of drugs backstage and Dylan couldn't resist) but i have seen him since when he was on top of it and that is the Bob I hope comes to Fresno this time.
It's about time they brought some big acts to the Chuk. Hope that 11:00 PM noise ordinance isn't in effect like when BB King played and pissed him off.
HOLY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES!!!
I get the chance to see (if not actually hear) Dylan ON my birthday!?!
S-W-E-E-T!!!
Really looking forward to see Bob and Willie. I'm not too familiar with Mellancamp except for a couple of his songs and that annoying Chevy commercial.
WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!
Seriously, this made my WHOLE YEAR!!!!
Wow I'm impressed The Chuck got this... good for them!! :)
I nearly died when i found out about this show, as a Dylan Freak (Have him Tattooed on my Arm) I have been reading about rumored locations for four months..and finally, it was official..Fresno, Ca!!!!
Thank God!!!!I get to see my idol and Hero
If this show is indeed a "go," expect some major protesting there against performers willing to enhance the business of a tribal government such as Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, who continues to violate the tribal, civil, and human rights of it's citizens through disenrollment.
As Willie Nelson in particular was a friend of the late Floyd Red Crow Westerman, who stood adamantly against the genocide of Indian People through tribal disenrollment, I would be very surprised if he would perform in a venue which would monetarily advance the coffers of a tribe such as Picayune. I believe that Bob Dylan as well has no interest in supporting a tribe who has disenrolled fully half of it's tribal citizens and denied due process and fair hearing to hundreds of elders and future generations.
I urge all who support justice and civil rights for all to write and/or call the booking agents/companies of both Bob Dylan (EVI) and Willie Nelson (William Morris Agency) in protest of their support of Picayune, and make them fully aware of the tribal, civil, and human rights violations perpetrated by Picayune upon it's People. I also urge all to boycott this concert if held at Chukchansi Park, and to join those of us who will be there in protest.
And to the Picayune Tribal Government?
Honor your ancestors, your elders, and your future generations..,
BRING THE PEOPLE HOME TO PICAYUNE!!!
Asking all people to boycott events held at Chukchansi Park. Support Indian Civil Rights.
The Chukchansi Tribe abuses civil rights of our people.
