As a diehard "24" fan, I knew that the show's writers/producers had their work cut out for them this season. They had to rebound from both their weakest season and the year and a half break that followed it, because of the writer's strike. Plus they had to earn back the faith of fans who started to question their plans for our hero, Jack Bauer.
Now that we're 13 hours in, I'm ready to call Season 7 a success. It's given us a change of scenery, new characters to care about and kept me at the edge of my seat numerous times already. The last three or four weeks have been especially great.
I say all that to set up this: We're reached a point in the 24 storyline where things have been known to trail off and become lame. I'm not going to spoil anything if you didn't see last night's episode, but it was a bit of a reset, with a few new storylines thrown into the mix. I'm hoping they don't become cliché and muddled.
Basically what I'm saying is that I reserve to the right to take back calling this season a "success" if they make the president's daughter into another Kim Bauer.
OK, so where are the "24" watchers at? What do you guys think so far? Has Season 7 won you back?

I think, much like "Lost", its far too late for me to get started and caught up. I'll have to just trust others about its awesomeness.
I just started watching 24 about 4 weeks ago out of boredom, but now I am hooked. Now I need to netflix all the older season so I can get caught up on all the greatness, but maybe Ill skip season 6 if you say its weak.
But I am looking forward to next Monday so I can see Jack kick some more terrorist ass.
If everyone listened to Jack Bauer, the show would be called "12".
Seriously this season is probably one of the best. Getting rid of CTU and moving to DC gave it new life. And yeah, the last 4 weeks were intense. Classic 24.
I'm on the edge of my seat every time the clock ticks to the next hour. So far - best season (day) yet.
Just saw last nights episode on Hulu (since my sat feed kept cutting out). I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but damn what an episode.
this day has been awesome. i'm finally back on the edge of my seat as well. i'm getting ticked off at the government suits that don't know what the heck they are doing.
it's sickening that Jack Bauer hasn't been named the nation's Secretary of Defense!! How in the hell can you treat the nation's Captain America with no respect?? And to top it off, question his judgement at every move? that's the FBI and Washington DC for ya, haha. oh and liberals, LOL!! just messing with some of you guys.
i know we've seen many times where the so called good guys are focusing too much time in trying to stop Jack instead of focusing on the bad guys. that is what's going to happen again, but i think the set up of the new characters have been so well done that it won't feel like a rehashed storyline all over again.
Tony Almeida is the wildcard. I'm wondering how they are going to use him for the last 11 hours. You know he's going to show up again. do you guys trust him? if you answer no, you are pretty much doing what the suits have been doing to Jack, not putting your faith in a person who's save the world many times.
I love me some 24. My favorite seasons in order are 3,5,1,4,2,6. I won't put this seventh in there until it's complete but I thought it was worth the wait and I'm happy with the product so far.
So Far I Like This Season. I Glad At See Tony Alive (But I Think He May be A Snake). Agent Pierce Back In The House Too Flirting With The Presidents Daughter Got Damn!! 24 Never Disappoints Me And Always Keeps Me On The Edge!!
damn, season 2 never gets any respect. that's my favorite day of all time. you had the vice president and cabinet against david palmer. the president's wife stabbing everyone in the back. i never wanted a character killed off before like i wanted mrs. palmer. she was the biggest b!itch of all time. Jack dying and coming back to life, then having to spend the last 8 hours in constant pain from being tortunred to death. that was suspense at the highest level. but most 24 fans don't rank it as high.
season 3 and 5 are good. 1 is great too. i would have at least ranked 2 ahead of 4, even though 4 had some nice surprises with Tony and David Palmer showing up at some point in those seasons, plus you had the start of the chinese. Season 6 is hands down the crappiest season, so I'm glad you ranked that one last, haha. Heck they are all good, except 6.
The 15 minute prequel to season 6 was better than that whole season. you guys remember that one?
I agree with you mdub, Season 2 gets no respect. Season 1 is still my favorite, because it was the first and everything was new - and I did not see the Nina thing coming at all.
I also agree Tony may be a snake. If I had to go one way or the other I'd say he's not, but he gets that look in his eye every so often.
But yeah, this is the best season in a long time. In two seasons at least, maybe 3. I don't think Olivia is going to be like Elisha Cuthbert - Kim - at all - but I do think Kim shows up sometime this season (I think I saw that on imdb.com - that she was listed as being part of this season). And I'm loving Jon Voight as the villain. And Jack on the run again? All the ingredients are there - though I'm with you, Mike - really hope the writers don't screw this one up.
SPOILERS ALERT***SPOILERS****ALERT...don't read further if you don't like surprises.....I know I know thats like a judge saying "the jury will strike the witness last comment from their minds and not deliberate with that information...you know you will....
JACK WILL GET A VISIT FROM HIS DAUGHTER (KIM BAUER...WITH HER KID AND NEW HUSBAND.....TONY FINDS TIME FOR SOME NOOKIE....AND HERE IT COMES....THE PRESIDENTS DAUGHTER EMERGES AS "24's" MOST RUTHLESS VILLAINESS SINCE SHERRY PALMER....OH, AND MORE FAMILIAR FACES WILL DIE....last week my favorite guy blew himself up for the cause.
wouldn't be surprised if the president's daughter turned out to be a villian. i already hate that chick anyways.
